Interesting tidbit on the Ring mag also pertaining to Kingpetch, Nat Fleischer was deciding judge to award him his title twice on the cards. Kingpetch was pretty lean and his defeating all time great Pascual Perez back to back is right up there with rematch v Harada. The guy had all of 3,4 amatuer fights and was very first world champion from Thailand. The first fight with Harada was weight and relentless buzzsaw style taking him out.
Cool replies.
This thread is a silent salute to magazines, the printed word.
On the internet, the day's top stories get lost as soon as another headline replaces it.
But an updated magazine can be placed on top of the old one, but the old magazine keeps its stories forever in its rightful place.
What are the chances of reading the name Pone Kingpetch on yahoo, Google or even espn?
All's lost! Everything's going to shit!

Used to take a monthly bus trip Downtown in the early-mid 90's. Still had a couple of old style magazine stands and would grab up KO, Boxing Illustrated, Ring, Boxing scene etc and that was your fix for the month to track the sport. USA Today had good updates too. That was your 'boxing forum'. Much harder to keep it chronological year after year minus those.
