Only got Twitter because Tam Seddon told me to go on there and have a couple of posts on but not an active user when Mike Tyson did not reply to my post. It is all adverts and selling his T shirts. Cunt.

Whatsapp take all your contacts and start texting them about joining them and that has costs me on my bills. Do not know how to switch that off.

All the apps in the house such as the tablets, phone, TV and computer have my email account on google so I have to be careful what searches I type nowadays.

Never look at other people posting they have to try and make their life so great, want to be the centre of the universe and project that everything is perfect. The fact that you have to do that is very sad. It is worse if you spend your time watching them. Get a life.

I cannot open a face book account I have been banned for some reason.

Batman, get out and about, read, ride a bike, go to gym and socialise with people.

Lmao, if Master has been banned from it that should speak volumes I still have a facebook account, but never go on there. Dont really get the objection to it, its as much a part of your life as you want it to be. The more you use it the more you are reminded how stupid most people are, Im not sure it actually changes anyone though.

P4Pking is right. It is 'as much a part of your life as you want it to be'. Plenty of vacuous shallow peeps posting vain selfies and bigging up themselves etc I am sure, but you are not some powerless drone slave forced to sit thru crap unless you choose to. If your friends, family and colleagues post interesting, relevant stuff then keep them on your feed, if they don't you take a break from their posting or simply select disconnect /defriend/block/I don't want to see anymore of Walrus' watch pictures etc. Yes it can suck away a lot of productive time and the sheer proliferation of so many types of social media can give people a distorted view of reality that depresses them or makes them more arrogant, but I hardly think it is frightening.

The idea that it is somehow taking a moral stand for freedom of speech or displaying an Independence that others do not aspire to by choosing not to subscribe is a bit ludicrous when many of the people being banned from these platforms are standing on a promise to shut down others with a different opinion, ban journalism and have for years been back by violent supporters silencing people who do not agree with them. It's almost as funny as talking about ethical investment whilst for decades having boasted of the wisdom of investing in Gold. All so you can stand in your destroyed rainforest with arsenic and mecury polluted rivers and look at your shiny new God whilst telling everyone how morally corrupt religious people are

It is worth it if only to see the real Brits remind Tommy of why he was right to be afraid of Sheikhs

Gold is not exactly a mass surveillance system or a drone. The continued use of oil and coal is far more problematic and with every newborn increasingly so. That is the hypocrisy of environmentalists. Every person should insure themselves with diversity of a financial kind, though it is better to consider where and how. Investing in fossil fuels and arms is very lucrative and far more destructive to humanity than a reversion to traditionalism. Without planning for one's own retirement one has very little and you know that whence purchasing property in a country that exploits it by building little and importing many. You cannot consider rain forests when you live in a country with no trees. Plenty of trees my way.

There are 3 billion trees in the UK. 47 for every human. You seem to live in an imaginary bubble mate, no need for Social media. Gold mining is horrendous environmentally now that most seams have been exploited.

You can take a train from Leeds to London and see endless fields and cities. Granted it has more trees than Saudi Arabia, but it is a treeless wilderness compared to some countries. There are trees of course, but one knows what I mean. My wife mocks me for the lack of trees, but it isn't my fault!

Like I say compared to human overpopulation and general environmental exploitation gold is fairly minimal. Not healthy of course, but humanity is not healthy. I accept the decay and know my own personal limits. Do others? Not so much.

Plenty of other things are mined from oil, to coal, to tin, to gas, to whatever. Gold is precious because there simply isn't that much of it. Landfills of plastic, methane leaking from the oceans, and populations doubling every few decades.

What is really impacting the environment out here is coal burning and so much of the economy being based in construction. Gold is hardly a serious issue in the great scheme of things. Most pay it no attention. All those people on airplanes everyday are a bigger problem.

Environmental welfare is not given serious consideration and I agree it is something to be worked on. Humanity chose its own path really. I am hardly a central bank. My contribution is minimal.

The reason why I cannot open a Facebook account is not anything sinister.

I recently had to set one up, forgot the stupid reason why as I have never bothered before and seemed to have missed the boat on the fad.

The new privacy protocol wanted a picture of me so I chose someone else and they must have known and do not allow me in. Their loss.

There is of course more than one side to every story. The rise of Social media for small business is a double edged sword. For Musicians. journalists, filmmakers, photographers, actors etc the story is just as complex and often very damaging. Many smaller independent magazines and newspapers are now huge corporate entities that will no longer buy pictures and stories from people like myself, when there is such a proliferation of people with phones flooding feeds and newspapers becoming online entities has removed the local contents relevance.

For musicians the ease of distributing music has helped connect fans and zines etc with their heroes but in the process destroyed the possibility of artists to indulge themselves for a long time in studio projects when sales of those recordings go down and down by the minute. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy where they less interesting and more instant an art work is the more successful it becomes. It creates in a digital world where variety and diversity should be easier to access a very homogenized version of popular culture without the nuance and eccentricities even the most commercial work absorbed from their former isolation. Think of Radio and how it used to be able to break a song before an artist was known and the image of that person was formed in your head long before you saw that single or EP cover down the local record shop or in a magazine. Now the first thing you often see is the image and the content is secondary.

My feed is now full of musicians and artists often talking directly to their fans and I am happy to have been able to benefit from that more direct access in person and online but it has impacted careers and the ability of quite obscure artists to make big statement pieces. There is no going back either. So Facebook will insist that I pay for an ad knowing full well that it will in all probability have less reach than a normal post. It is not in their interest to build communities or inform the public, it's all about the dollar. So venues can no longer list events on their pages in the hope that Facebook will force them to take out an ad for each event however small. Instagram is full of accounts where people posting very average pictures about their lives have thousands or more interactions than fantastic photographs, paintings and videos made by people who have dedicated their lives to perfecting that craft.

Even giants lie Google and Youtube started off as disruptors. They ripped up the rule book and created a new world. Google pushed technology forward but now the advertisers that funded it will in all likelihood kill it too. Amazon has started to corner the search market taking out the Google middleman and it has just occurred to me this is what is happening on a macro scale too. The middleman who could make a living is now being eclipsed by the unskilled budget provider with technology that even a monkey can use (Check out the chimp using instagram) and the multinational neo liberal 'profit is everything' religious entity, making sure that profit trumps everything including enterprise.

Social media is on that level a social experiment in making people compliant as their resources are depleted and replaced by apps and subscription to neo liberal dogma. How many phone numbers can you remember now compared to the 70's or 80's or even 90's? How willing are you to find an answer to a question without using a search engine? When was the last time you physically went and socialized with someone in their homes and not on your phone? It's a nightmare and we are all getting dumber.

Look at May and Trump. Fucking hell man 2019 and that's the best we can do

Stop being happy or doing and making stuff to make you and your friends, community and families happy and BUY STUFF. That is the mantra being repeated.
