Not sure how well Dave Allen was across the pond. But in America few knew of him. I thought his show Dave Allen @ Large was hilarious. First comedian I ever saw that did jokes on religion, especially Catholics. He usually sipped on scotch while telling such jokes to which I found amazing as a kid.

Are you kidding me, Dave Allen was brilliant!!! He had a show over here and it was hilarious.
