I agree.
The main event should have been the Chisora fight and he is responsible for a huge percentage of London crowd.
Chisora is on the verge (yet again) on a world title shot if he beats Parker.
Josh Taylor gets props for providing pure enjoyment of making Ohara Davis quit..but it’s Parker and Chisora that deserve the top slot EVEN without a belt on the line.
I think maybe it's all one big wink and nod, Chisora knows his role as do the fans and they're just collectively chumming the waters for sake of build up. Chisora has to be grateful that he's on the card and both Taylor and Prograis realize this is their major league super fight to break out. Seriously though its a shame there is any hot or cold about how awesome that 140 showdown is. At some point these old war torn fan faves have to make room for the future and both Prograis and Taylor are every bit that. It's one of the best match ups to be made not only in respective division but the sport and that's all we fans ever piss and moan about wanting.
I'm explaining WHY he gave them shit and demanded more money, not arguing Chisora should be top of the bill (personally I couldn't give a fuck).
You've got it mixed up mate.
Both fights were announced at the same time, as co-main events, on the Loma-Campbell show. The tickets went on sale at the same time. It's not hard to gauge what the actual punters, people who buy tickets and Box Office, are most interested in. The packed 02 crowd were shamefully "silent" when they introduced Taylor-Prograis (I felt sorry for them) yet roared the roof off at Chisora-Parker.
It's a shame Chisora-Parker are much bigger names than Taylor-Prograis but it's the sad reality.
For the millionth time, it's not about ability, titles, rankings or what someone "deserves," it's purely about what you SELL!!! How many tickets, TV viewers, media attention. The press conference wouldn't have made a murmur without Chisora. This thread wouldn't exist.

But like you said Mate, it’s about what you sell. You’ve said why he had a rant, and fair enough.
My point being that if Chisora/Parker was selling like hot cakes, he would have no need to pad the show up with Prograis/Taylor. They would be able to make that as a seperate show (not necessarily ppv.) in Glasgow Or America.
It doesn’t matter how many people scream when Chisora and Parker’s names are announced, it’s about how the show performs as a ppv.
And I genuinely don’t see people buying it.

If self-proclaimed "hardcore" fans actually purchased boxing tickets, PPV, subscriptions or simply tuned in to watch, instead of stealing and moaning about being "ripped off," they'd get every fight they ever demand.
This thread is about a veteran boxer pressuring promoters and TV networks for a "fair" shake, based on facts and evidence. Who has got all the shit? The big mouth "slave" boxer who should know his place.

Well, I have to admit that Chisora's ranting has gained the whole card a lot more attention on the mainstream press (and this forum) than it would have ordinarily got !
He always does something like this before a fight ..... and I can just see him high-fiving Prograis and Taylor backstage afterwards
'Nice one, Dereck', 'great presser, mate'
Jack Kearns would have been proud of that one
If God wanted us to be vegetarians, why are animals made of meat ?
When you say “fair shake” do you not think he’s getting one for the level of fighter he is?
I’d be intrigued to know how much you think he’s worth.
Or is he “worth more” just because he throws the odd table around , spits at World champions and tells everybody to fuck off now and again!
When does Boxing talent come into it?

From your very first fight as a pro until your last it is always about how many tickets YOU can sell. That may be because of what you do inside and outside of the ring, how good you are at pestering people, courting the press, playing the game, taking your chances when they are offered, bouncing back, making yourself hated or loved, ....whatever. It is prize fighting and the spectacle has always been part of it. Boxing talent can be there in spades but if you do not sell tickets a manager will not invest in you and a promoter will lose interest. It is unfair and incredibly cruel at times but it is the way it is.
The WBS is an aberration. It is messed up that it should be so unusual, but it is. It would be brilliant if all the champs and contenders were forced to fight each other for recognition as THE BEST in your respective division but sadly it does not make as much money. Check out the X Factor and Britain's got Talent crap getting international exposure when you have more talented artists and bands that will never get past the national circuit.
It is hard not to end up a cynical grumpy bastard as you get older but everyone is out there to milk it for what it is worth. Realistically what is Del Boy going to do when he retires? so he needs to up the stakes and make Haye while the sun shines.
