I was reading a few tweets earlier from some wilder fans and quite a few people were saying tyson landed an illegal blow round the back of the head and was fighting dirty.

I posted this on another post but im guessing this is the punch they are talking about https://twitter.com/i/status/1231473875030024193

How the fuck is a straight 1-2 to an opponent facing you an illegal blow?

Nothing worse than bad excuses and the inabillity to admit defeat.

I was watching on a stream and my first impression was that it looked 'awkward' to say the least and same on the replay. Sure, Wilder should not put himself in that position, but a chopping shot to the back of the head/ear is nasty. It does happen. I remember Peter wobbled Toney with one and you don't see Toney wobbled very often and the referee I think warned Peter at one stage in one of the their fights. Toney is a short guy crouching low, so sometimes there isn't much of a target. It does happen. Wilder's coordination was gone from that point on, but seemingly the costume was as big a factor. I did comment in the thread about the Sauron look. Come in next time with a gown and be focused. It is not a game.

Gonna re-watch it all properly later anyway.

I was actually scared for Deontay. No doubt he has a sledgehammer punch but that alone ain’t enough. He took abeating and a half. Gotta give him some credit for toughness but he wasn’t protecting himself. You could tell kind of early he was beyond one punch getting him out of it but I guess that was the only plan they had. If Deontay hadn’t ducked into the shot one could argue it was an illegal punch but he did and it wasn’t. Maybe he should fight in a spedo next time I’m sure that was the only problem and he should win next time

Fury did a great job pushing down on wilder during the fight. I saw it more than a handful of times. Wlad was good at that to. During the clinches you could see fury leaning into Deontae. I know it’s not legal so to speak but fury was able to get it in without it looking overdone like Klitchko often did. So Deontae knows he is going to be dealing with that but brings up this BS thing as an excuse and says Fury didn’t hurt him? Does he think boxing fans are stupid. I’ll admit I picked Deontae, I thought he might get in a sledgehammer punch but I never disliked Fury and I was glad to see a good fight, I still think all ppv should have much better undercards. I like seeing someone of fury’s background make good. He fought his ass off, the blood licking thing was sceevy but at least he didn’t bite anyone. I say let’s have a third fight, let Deontae wear a 2oz costume if he loses what will his excuse be this time? Who knows he took some killer shots maybe at this point he is actually believing what he is saying. I don’t know how many of you have had serious whacks to the head but they really do distort things quite a bit, sometimes it slow to come back, if it does.

The ref was not really allowing Fury to use his weight against Wilder that much. As soon as they clinched the ref was in there stopping Fury. The ref was quick to deduct a point against Tyson. Thankfully it did not matter.

In short, I think the ref was favouring Wilder.

I'd like to hear him say it myself.

Most hazardous job in the world would be interviewing Wilder and having him spring that on you.

How you react as a journalist in the following seconds could have an effect on your immediate well-being.

Meaning an unconscious guffaw could cost you dearly.

Have to imagine it's from a spaghetti thrown at the wall list circulating among his team. After a public drubbing on that scale it's fair to give a guy a window to let the dust settle and at least get the feeling back in his neck, take it all with a grain of salt. A lot of talk on physical changes and his in ring future but this is equally character defining and how he goes forward mentally.
