WASHINGTON (AP) — Joe Biden is enjoying an early presidential honeymoon, with 60% of Americans approving of his job performance thus far and even more backing his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

This conversation prompted me to look at the "Historical Gallup Polling comparison" of Presidents since FDR.

Some interesting shit in there.

For instance:

• Trump's average approval rating throughout his term: 41 (lowest among the previous 13 Presidents, since FDR)
• Trump's highest approval rating while in office: 46 (only President not to crack the 50's)
• Lowest approval rating while in office: 34 (at least a few have him beat in that category... Carter 28, Nixon 24, Truman 22)

Well... Carter suffered through the Iran hostage crisis. Nixon of course was undone by Watergate... and Truman's downfall was the Korean War.

Anyway, these are Gallup numbers... and obviously those who end up disfavored by Gallup immediately dismiss them as flawed. Unfortunately, there aren't too many other choices out there with regards to Presidential approval rating polls. (Unless of course you want to believe Fox News polls on the subject... ).

But being the thorough chap that I am, I researched Gallup themselves. Seems like Gallup obtained a grade of "B" by a site that grades polling firms.

The only investigation into actual large scale election fraud is currently being made into Donald Trump and his attempt to illegally change the result of the election in Georgia.

The example of voter fraud you come up with was from a local election that took place before the 2020 presidential election. Statewide elections have far fewer safeguards than national elections and occasionally you get incidents like this. Of course trying to steal a few dozen votes in Texas for the Democratic candidate in a national election would be beyond stupid, hard to imagine anybody would try it. So so far just the two Fraudulent Trump votes that we know about. I'm sure there are more. There could even be more than a hundred nationwide but some will be in uncompetitive states and the rest will be evenly split so basically zero voter fraud happened.

I remember the polls told me Biden would win in 2020 and he did. I'm not sure what that word salad about Frank Luntz means. Luntz is an excellent pollster and if he thinks Biden won a debate then I'm sure that's his honest opinion. It was also the opinion of pretty much every pundit and poll at the time.


Biden has nothing to do with the security measures at the Capitol. This is just another example of you having no idea at all about the way your country is run and just parroting something you half remember from talk radio or Fox news.

The fencing appears to be down to the security people in charge of the Capitol although the majority and monority leaders of both houses apparently have some say too and they're waiting for the result of a security review being done by some general before they decide what their position is going to be. There was one president who was responsible for panicking and putting a fence up around the building he worked in recently but it was the Bunker Bitch, not Biden.



Biden is nor inept or senile. He did a televised town hall recently and discussed basically every aspect of foreign and domestic policy in detail and had command of the facts on every subject. Donald Trump on the other hand proved repeatedly during his term in office that he didn't even understand basic things about any aspect of policy. He even had his own people explain his own policies to him on live TV occasionally when he got things wrong. His own side excluded him from taking part in any deals made between the parties because he had no idea what he was doing.
