    It certainly was.

From a financial standpoint, it had the 5th largest ticket sales revenue in Vegas history, even surpassing Mayweather vs Canelo. So it generated a lot of interest in boxing, which is always good. But like Mayweather-Canelo, it proved to be what boxing experts predicted it would be... a bucket of cold water on the outsized hype that demanded each fight.

It was also successful from a purely personal standpoint.

I don't like Tank as a person. But I dislike even more the social media-driven hype that Garcia has enjoyed (and encouraged) these past few years. In my mind, he got what was coming to him... and it was a sense of boxing justice (much to the chagrin of casual fans and groupies the world over) There are no shortcuts in boxing... just like there is no crying in baseball.

    So yeah... very successful.

Davis is an explosive counter puncher
He hasn't taken the usual route to stardom by beating an old star
Can he do close to those numbers against anyone else at 135?
Maybe the Haney/Lomachenko winner, possibly Stevenson

The fight, which took place this past Saturday in Las Vegas, generated about 1.2 million pay-per-view buys in the U.S., sources told Fight Freaks Unite. That’s the most buys for a sanctioned bout since Canelo Alvarez-Gennadiy Golovin I in 2017 generated 1.3 million.

Crazy to think this was the very first ppv for Garcia which blew the Brinks truck wide open. Tank has been ppv exclusive...what a dumb farkin term...since Santa Cruz. It always takes two to dance. In the big picture and unfortunately I think all this success does is grow the microwaved mindset to stardom via social media. It's not about being a character or hometown star now as we've seen in previous eras. Garcia did more bag work and point and click to build the fight than he did actual ring representation and building, the earning and establishing. Like I've said before we are in the era of shortcuts, gimmick and over exposure rather than merit. And it's going to get worse now. Pretty much why I think goofball Rolly Romero was steered to a title sight, oddly enough in the division Garcia will now be at . Even the top guys are using social media as a crutch to almost subsidize ring activity. I know it's a reality now and us ol geezers came from different eras. It has a place and purpose. Can you imagine being a new fan and realize that you can actually interact with your favorite fighter, in real time. New fans today really don't realize the difference in times. But many good fighters today have gone soft on the twatter, Instagram etc feed my ego fetish fest. The times they are indeed changing in the sport.

    Ryan was weight-drained.
    Ryan had a pre-injured rib.
Ryan had a mole in his camp.
    It was the trainer's fault.

I know they all do it when they lose... but it's sweet to see the Pauper going through the sequence.
