It certainly was.
From a financial standpoint, it had the 5th largest ticket sales revenue in Vegas history, even surpassing Mayweather vs Canelo. So it generated a lot of interest in boxing, which is always good. But like Mayweather-Canelo, it proved to be what boxing experts predicted it would be... a bucket of cold water on the outsized hype that demanded each fight.
It was also successful from a purely personal standpoint.
I don't like Tank as a person. But I dislike even more the social media-driven hype that Garcia has enjoyed (and encouraged) these past few years. In my mind, he got what was coming to him... and it was a sense of boxing justice (much to the chagrin of casual fans and groupies the world over)There are no shortcuts in boxing... just like there is no crying in baseball.
So yeah... very successful.
