Let me be brutally frank here. Not once have I ever claimed Canelo won't go down as a boxing great. He's put in his time... he's won his big fights.

My contention with him has always been the way he carefully constructed his career. No need to go into specifics here. I've said all this a thousand times.

His hype has always exceeded his substance. He has ducked... he has marinated... he has stacked the deck... he has done everything except put himself out there fearlessly and let the chips fall where they may.

Even fellow Mexicans can't stand the dude.

He's everything that is wrong with boxing.

That he unified at 168... sure. He'll always be remembered as a great 168.

Of course, he benefitted from a group of British boxers to whom he will always be indebted.

TO YOU... he has a great legacy. To me he's just an overly hyped manufactured diva, who carefully picked and chose his opponents at HIS timing. He had the WBC and many judges in his pocket.

    When he's gone... good riddance.

Canelo will be a hall of famer.

    No doubt.

Just a shame he ducked DB, took PEDS and his flaws will always be exposed by quality fighters

Arturo Gatti is a HOFer also. Doesn't always mean a hell of a lot. More of a popularity contest.

His blatant duck of DB is what everyone notices... but not everyone remembers how he shamelessly marinated, avoided, or cherry-picked his way around certain fighters.

He's also a convicted cheater, although his slap on the wrist didn't amount to jackshit.

A manufactured diva. That's how many will remember him.

    Some legacy...

his hype may have exceeded his substance. he didn't duck austin trout, floyd mayweather jr, erislandy lara, ggg, danny jacobs, callum, billy joe, caleb or dmitry & i'd like to see what sort of deck stacking you claim he did against any of them. he fought ggg within two years of moving to middleweight & before many others did, felix sturm, jcc jr, serio martinez, miguel cotto, billy joe saunders. you thought ggg won the first fight, canelo not only fought him he also went straight back into an immediate rematch with him

canelo has had a very good career & fought a who's who of this era. he didn't always carefully pick & choose his opponents at his timing. have you got any proof canelo had the wbc & judges in his pocket?
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

Why do Canelo nut huggers never praise his same day weight politicking vs already heavy underdog Angulo among his greatness. Now that was some genuine BS and the type of stacking that pisses fans off. The key is the fact that Canelo is already and has been defending in hindsight. Majority of the fans etc. are in full reflection mode and shining up decade's old wins. The days of hyping and promoting what he is actually doing and where he is going have pretty much concluded. Because any fair-minded individual simply cannot.
