Irony is that it would seem to come from a place of solutions and tragedy prevention though tbh a little bit pie in the sky, while the tin foil hat crowd during 'Milton' looked at it as weather being weaponized ? in a way. Used to shine light a certain agenda driven, as they view it and general denial of "climate change" I guess, as it never goes deeper than the conspiracy headline etc. It really does come down to do you believe humans can fook the Earth up and have to a good deal. I think we have and it's fairly clear. The solutions, paths forward and owning the effect are an entirely different thing and the gist of the read. Biggest take was that in the end nature takes its own course and they cannot differentiate between what happens all the time historically...eye wall reduction in a hurricane...and the old research effects. And again, none of this is happening currently.

"Bubble Curtains" sorry man but that one really caught me. The first thing that came to mind was watching an armada of hundreds of ships trying to navigate the Gulf coast around thousands of offshore drilling sites and platforms. So they can do drilling on top of existing drilling. Talk about a massive political football and fuse for possible disaster. 'Oceantherm' is based in Norway and it's interesting that the head research was largely spurned on after Katrina hit and the aftermath. I just don't know how and to what degree climate and studies in that region etc. can relate to the Gulf coast. The thing is and it gets lost at times...Katrina historically is viewed (at least locally) is as much a man-made disaster as the initial hurricane. The levees and infrastructure failures and buffering wetlands being ravaged. THAT is what flooded people to their roofs. We were pretty dry, not completely by any means, and really didn't get much rain compared to other storms...but the following 24-48 hrs the water started rising bad. Ironically it was failed steps, but needed steps, taken by man but not maintained infrastructure that gave way and flooded the soup bowl here. I tend to fall in the category of leave mother nature alone for the most part. Utilize it for benefits but measure our impact and long-term cost. Absent of political agenda. But good luck with that today . Unfortunately, much of the damage is already done. And no no one is currently shooting lasers into and trying to steer or implode hurricanes with nukes but it has "been reported" that that was oval office discussion once . Rambling here but thanks for getting the hamster running on the wheel again.

There are certainly a lot of factors at play here. Climate change denial is obviously getting more ludicrous as the years go by. BUT... I'm sure a lot of deniers are still clutching onto that non-belief. The fact that man can politicize ANYTHING has been hammered home with both COVID and climate change. I can only watch in utter disgust, as politicians use these things as political footballs, the welfare of society be damned. Long time ago, I used to think some things were out of bounds. Maannn... have I been proven wrong many times over. Weaponizing weather? Yeah... I'm not hitching my wagon to that futuristic, conspirational crock of B.S. Again... cloud seeding does exist. But weaponizing a vast, powerful, force of nature... such as a hurricane... is something out of a futuristic, sci fi movie. Of course, that doesn't stop MTG from taking about it. For the life of me, if I was from Georgia I would lie about where I'm from. I'd be too embarrassed to be from the State that elected such a moron to office.

I WISH hurricanes could be manipulated. That way they could all be either dissipated before they develop... or be steered off into the middle of the Atlantic, where they would die a lonely death. Unfortunately that is not our reality at present. You make some good points on Katrina. One thing that makes hurricanes even more destructive, is when man has encroached on nature in unwise ways. I love to visit New Orleans. But no way am I living below sea level, with only dikes keeping the ocean from swamping my city. It's almost like a dare to nature, saying... "You want some of this?"

After Andrew hit Florida in 1992, there were some changes to the construction codes at least in that part of Florida. Here in Puerto Rico, our houses have always traditionally been made out of concrete. It's a bitch to build... and an even bigger bitch to make renovations and changes. But it's a necessity. Even in my concrete home, I was just a tad nervous when Maria flattened us back in 2017. But it was mainly thinking about my terrace, and frankly just the roar you're in when being run over by a Cat 4 or above. But the house was fine (and so was the terrace). Of course we were totally blacked out (no power, no water, no phones, no gasoline) for awhile... but that's another story.

That's why weather manipulation (or the possibility of it) is personal to me. And again my thoughts go to that backwoods air head representing Georgia in Congress.

I'm just glad it's October. Although hurricane season doesn't officially end till end of November, I've been conditioned to breathe a sigh of relief after September. Of course, October has been very punishing for you folks up there.
