Williams can cause an upset but Margarito has Power nobody can deny that and Williams chin is not yet tested. As for Margarito he should hire teh Velocity people

Trade that 'wasn't ready' to 'Not good enough!' Margarito destroyed him and he'll do the same to Williams, that long body is desperate for a left hook to be sank in there. Although there's nothing much to dislike about Paul, to be as green as he is calling out all those names, I think a loss could be good for him. It was good for Kermit wasn't it

Clicked back my brithermyou don't know HOW bad I want Williams to get KTFO!!! Not because I dislike Williams,he has a great style but because alot of peeps have been saying Tony was ducking him OR this and that etc etc. Margarito better train fooking properly for this fight!

LMAO,to be honest neither fighter looked good in their last fight but Margarito's was against RING mag number 8,I think whereas Willaism was against Santos Pakua?(Man,my fave ref Cortez let me down in that fight,he should have stopped it WAY earlier!)

I can't imagine what punch stats will be like but like I said,I favour Tony's workrate, experience and (usually although not last night)tighter defence.
Hey El Gamo, I'm sharing your desire to see Williams destroyed. Personally I think Margarito will just walk through and brutalise him, probably a knockout within 8 rounds.

Williams is huge but he looks almost skeletal and don't think their is much strength in him at all. His last two fights have been against two tiny welters in Mitchell and that other nameless bum who took him on at 24 hours notice.

He won't have nearly as much of a height and reach advantage against Margarito. Williams is awkward and throws a lot of punches per round, trouble is there isn't really any power behind them.

Margarito throws just as many punches, has proven stamina, a proven chin and hits way harder.

I personally think this fight will be short and very painful for Williams.
WOW,what the heck is going on? I thought you hated Tony, now after his worst performance, you're starting to like him? Welcome to the bandwagon bro! I'm guessing you saw more of Margarito and saw,at his best, how destructive he can be?

I think you are right you know,I think have now seen 6 Williams fights and I think Tony hits harder,is tighter defensively and can adjust better than Williams,be more selective with his output...Williams uses a good jab, pretty fast but not much power in thise shots and he is WIIIIIIIDE open all night long. I want to see Tony prepare 1000% for this fight,no excuses, and if he is prepared,I think he'll win. I don't know about the 8th round ko but if little shot Shrmba can get inside and shift Williams a few times,I'd fancy Tony to do the same and IF Tony does win,he SURELY deserves a big shot then

Why don't you like Williams bro?He is a good fighter but the fans/pbf fans and Williams mouth have put me off him plus commentators comparing him to Tommy Hearns, apart from height and reach, they don't have much in comparison!!!
Well after the wheels came off the Julio wagon that I was riding in Margarito's seemed a nice comfy ride :P

You're right I've have watched more of his fights, his last 8 or so now and do appreciate him more. It helps now that there are far less fans around now as well who go on about how good he is. I think he's an exciting fighter to watch, a non stop punching machine, whose not afraid to get hit which I like in a fighter.

Williams is currently enjoying his 15 minutes as boxing's latest welterweight fad but I think his truimph will be shortlived. He just looks skeletal at the weight, worse than Coralles at 135 so I can't imagine he has a high punch resistance. His size will cause huge problems for some of of the smaller guys, Cotto at only 5 ft 7 might struggle, but Margarito is 5 ft 10 ish so it's not so much of an obstacle to him.

I really think he will just walk through him.

As for some people saying that Williams is more of a contender than Cintron was I completely disagree. Cintron prior to Margarito was a huge talking point, mainly because of his one punch knockout power. He was literally blowing guys away, only one guy has ever gone the distance with him!

Since Margarito he has scored 3 more straight knockouts so I can't for the life of me fathom why people think he is less of a prospect than Williams?

Williams has his share of knockouts too but he's a volume puncher, not a power puncher.

I'd see him against Cintron as a very evenly matched fight, Cintron is 5 ft 11 remember so again not much of a height advantage for Williams plus Cintron looks MUCH more solidly built.

If those two fought right now I'd go with Cintron. Williams gets hit way too easy and a Cintron bomb is going to hurt waaaay more than a Sharmba Mitchell patter punch.

As for Williams against Margarito, I honestly think Antonio will beat the boy up real bad.

i said that i would give toney respect if clottey (who i had never seen in the past, and i admitted it) came out and impressed me and margarito still got the w. obviously he did, but i wasnt considering that scenario (clottey breaking his hand) i have more respect for margarito (he would have lost his ass had clottey not busted his hand) than i did prior to the fight, but this is the fight where i will eat my words. if he beats williams i will think that he truely is one of the best welterweights out there because i think that paul williams may be boxings answer to lebron james.

btw........................ can anybody tell me who trains williams?? cause i seriously dont know
Finally stepping up to real fighters.......................................... ...........................Cintron AND CLottey are both better than Baldo, did you even see Cintron's last fight? Anyway,if he beats Williams,I guess you'll just fond someone else to try to rally and cheer against Tony He is trained by......1 sec...Mr.George Peterson
THey might be but Baldomir has beaten better fighters then Clottey and Cintron 10 times over.

And Williams in a beast. I'm not ready to pick him yet but he isn't getting his due in this thread. I say it's a war for 8 or so rounds before someone gets knocked out. Neither of them have very good defenses and both throw punches a mile a minute. I'm leaning towards Margarito at the moment but no way is he not going to be tested.

Williams is a good fighter but I believe Tony hits harder, has a better D and is far more experienced and has fought better fighters. People criticise Margarito's record of opponents, yet a.)it is getting better and b.) Williams has fought absolutely no one in 31 fights except shot Sharmba and Mathysse. And I wasn't saying wether Baldo has beaten better fighters, that wasn't the issue, IMO,Cintron would whoop Baldo and Clottey did beat his ass so I said, they are better fighters. And Baldo has beaten 2 NAME fighters,Gatti is a name,he's wasn't and never has been a great fighter. IF COllazo wins against Mathysse,he'll fight Cintron and if Kermit wins that,he'll have caught up to Baldo.

I agree Tony will be tested,a guy bigger than and can match his stamnia but Tony is a smart fighter and I expect him to prepare adequtely and win. I think the poor preparation for the Clottey fight should wake him a bit.

Interesting fight. For one there fairly similar. They both should be fighting at a higher weight class, but apparently they've either been advised to do it because they want the size advantage or they themselves have decided that they want it. Either way, there both helped out by being bigger than most 147's. They both throw a ton of punches, they both seem to have real good stamina, and they both can be hit. Honestly I think both guy's power is overrated, although I think Margarito probably hits a bit harder with one shot.

Williams is faster, but I'm favoring Margarito cause I think he's a bit stronger, he seems more sturdy, we know he's got a good chin, I'm not totally sure that Williams does, and he's got more experience.

    But it should be interesting.

Who has Baldomir beat better than Cintron? He beat an underprepared Zab Judah and a completely shot Gatti. Gatti wouldn't go 3 rounds with Kermit Cintron, I doubt anybody would disagree with me on that!

Cintron is a good fighter, he lacked the experience and maybe was a bit overawed against Margarito but he's looked great since. I'd pick him to beat Williams right now.
