    Not only build up a lead but he let SRL take the last rds. (except for 12) and you and I both know what happens when a certain fighters wins those last few rds. of a close fight.....

    April 20, 2002. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (27-0, 20 KO) vs. Jose Luis Castillo (45-4-1, 40 KO) for Castillo's WBC Lightweight Title. This was Mayweather's first fight at 135 after vacating his WBC Super Featherweight title.
    Mayweather won by unanimous decision, with the judges scoring the fight 116-111, 115-111, 115-111.
    Both fighters had a point deducted for fouls. Castillo in the 8th round and Mayweather in the 10th.

    Close fight, that I taught Mayweather without controversy. I think the fact that Mayweather had never been in a close fight until this made people think that he actually lost. When in fact, he didn't. .

    I'm DEFINTELY going to post in the JLC-PBF thread,I'll watch it tomorrow morning. I don't think its because Floyd was in a close fight,I think it was because JLC landed more blows,the harder blows,and PBF was not showing generalship(as Lederman pointed out)he was pot shotting and running. He under estimated the monster Castillo. Roger Mayweather disrespected JLC before the fight,saying if someone from the crowd threw in a beer bottle,it would hit JLC(ie thats how wide open he was). Castillo took it to Mayweather and I'lll certainly be posting my card tomorrow morning.

    PBF: 1,2,4,9,12 = 112
    Rd. 8 was (9-9) JLC had a point deducted for hitting during a break.
    *Rd. 10 was (10- PBF had a point deducted for pushing off with his forearm.

    I just finished watching it again and it's the same way I've always seen it JLC was the aggressor punishing PBF and working him against the ropes making PBF go back. JLC always looked for the fight and he was the champ. I didn't see PBF do anything that a challenger is suppose to do when fighting for a title you're suppose to come in and take the title. JLC was always the aggressor and IMO landed the harder punches wether to the head or body.

    i scored rounds different but we both come out with 114-112 and i agree with you mayweather didnt do enough to take jlc belt and castillo was aggressor and in my eyes he did enough to retain his belt i totally agree with mick on this one

    thanks! admittedly that i only knew little about the sport. but i enjoy watching some good fights whenever's a chance.

    my first time i watched PBF-JLC1, i thought that Castillo should have won.
    i watched it again today when saw this thread (nice idea!!!) and scored it round-by-round. some close rounds and could go to either fighter defending on what style you prefer (aggresive or counterpuncher).

    but i find it a little fascinating when all the 3 judges scored it in favor of PBF by a somewhat 2-3 rounds swing. guess they prefer PBF's counter-punching and running around.

    Yeah! but keep in mind JLC was the champ.
    IMO since JLC was the champ. I didn't see anything from PBF that indicated he was the challenger that he was there to win a fight, he fought like he was the champ there and JLC fought like the challenger the hungrier of the 2.
    He fought aggressive and he pusnished PBF to the body and to the head.....
    PBFs body punches were taps in the form of jabs to the stomach, while JLC threw hooks and uppers to the rib cage and to the stomach more variations of body attack.....
