    the ali from the 60's wouldn't have needed to lay on the ropes against foreman.

    Just watch the ALI-Cleveland Williams fight. He was at his absolute best. Timing, rythem , balance, footwork and hand speed. I say the 60's. Ali had to show more heart and guts in the 70's. Everyone he fought in the 70's were in their prime years and he still beat most of them.(I believe Norton won all 3 fights but thats for another time.)

    The 60's ali was just a freak of nature. If those two versions of himself were to fight, the 70's version would lose a wide UD. Upon waiting for the 60's version to tire, the 70's version would realize it takes longer than 15 rounds to do that.

    Good call. He was unbeatable in that fight. It was a masterpiece of a fight for him.

    Maybe but Williams was only ever decent hw but still masterpiece from Ali Holmes performance against Shavers in 1st fight was masterpiece aswell he totally shut Shavers out.
