Default Which was better the Ali form 60's or the Ali form the 70's

Everyone says win they make a prime fight for Ali it is always the Ali form the 60's but in a way i think the 70's one is better in some ways i mean maybe the 60's was a bit faster but the 70's one i think was smarter example i think the Ali form the 60's would beat Frazier easier but would have more problems with forman than the 70's version did reason i say that is because the Ali form the 60's i dont think would of came up with the idea because he think he was better and didn't need it but the older version new he needed and came up with if you get what i am saying please i like some input

iT's jhard to judge really.....The Ali from the 60's is the Ali that dazzled the world with speed that no one could ever imagine before him coming from a heavyweight....the way he fought with his hands down ect...he was still a work in progress though.....Yet everything he did was based on pure skill alon and ability...

The Ali of the 70's was more polished even though unortadox he had the experience...he lost some of the speed but made up for it with ring savvy...he knew how to do things to offset opponents to make up for some of the things he had lost......

I can't remember who said it first but one statement that best describes Ali of the 70's is...."The worst thing to ever happen to Ali is he found out he could take a punch"......

Up until 75-76 I think it is a pick em...depending on which style you preferred.....Either way both versions were great...

The Ali from '64-'67 is clearly the "prime Ali."

I thought he did go to prison thought that is why he could not box for the years he missed

No he was just banned in USA and stripped of the title......During that time he fought in Europe here and there,,,,,Though the USA would not recognize those bouts as sanctioned but more as exhibitions

60s Ali was Amazing. His footwork was incredible and his speed and reflexes were amazing. 70s Ali used experiece and still had the tools from his younger years but his footwork was stating to diminish and he laid on the ropes more often. He was just so good that a 75% Ali would still beat 99% of the other heavyweights and stll look good doing it.

    Thats about right
Ali in the 60's could just end fights at will, and if you ticked him off he'd just torture you like he did against Patterson
Two time champ, and hes just wailing on him screaming "Whats my name?"

The Ali of the 60's was incredible, his skills extraordinary for a HW. His demolition of London, Williams and torture of Terrell were far better than his efforts in the 70's. He had slowed and i think his own fame was a big distraction for him. I doubt if he was in as good a shape as he could have been during the 70's.
