For hooks to the body use a horizontal fist with the palm up to protect the thumb

Don't mind if I answer this myself.

It's the same spot as your solar-plexus. It's located directly below your sternum or breast-bone right where your ribs meet. Getting hit there is like hitting your funny bone except for a short while you aren't able to take another breath (i.e. getting the wind knocked out of you). It's a feeling you'll never like.

So it's important that you don't give your opponent a flush target. Try to maintain a side-on angle to your opponent so that your body becomes a smaller target which makes it impossible for your opponent to land a clean punch on your solar plexus.

Anyways you can practice your punches to the solar plexus. You can lead and make a quick fencer-like stab, which is something you ought to look out for when we go over Ricardo Lopez's fights. You can also throw a counter, such as a straight right to body right off of a slip which is one of my favorite moves.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.
