2007 has been an amazing year but let's not get carried away,last year was pretty bad and the previous year minus 5-7 fights was not so great either. I think you guys are missing the point of the article.
The point is,there are deep rooted problems in boxing which need to be eliminated for it to be a mainstream sport again. It does not strike the headlines on the sports pages anymore and is nowhere near the atttractive proposition it once was.
Again,I totally agree it's been an amazing amazinng year for us fans but what about new fans? I think MMA has catered to new fans more. It's more fan friendly. Also,as amazing a year as it has been,the promotion of big fights has been woeful. Cotto Judah did 250,000 buys and it was awesome whereas shit like B Hop Winky was the second highest grossing. Pavlik Taylor,Rafa v Israel 1 and 2 etc has half empty stadiums yet were amazing fights which would appeal to everyone!
