I think there has been a hole lot of fus over nothing. Boxing aint going no where. There were some good ideas discussed like possibly having a boxing comisioner, some mentioned that there was too many sanctioning bodies and Floyd also said that boxing should be placed on regular tv. I think they also mentioned something about cutting down on PPV events. I would like it if any of this actually led to something but I doubt it.

2007 has been a vintage year- possibly the best of the new millenium.
    Apart from the Heavyweights.

I was thinking this year is going to be and has been awesome when I saw the post.

I dont know why you never see boxing in the mainstream anymore. Its never in the sports section of our local paper or on the local sports on tv. You hve to have cable and the internet if you want to follow the sport.

If PPF thinks they should cut down on PPVs he should start with the Hatton fight. LOL

2007 has been an amazing year but let's not get carried away, last year was pretty bad and the previous year minus 5-7 fights was not so great either. I think you guys are missing the point of the article.

The point is,there are deep rooted problems in boxing which need to be eliminated for it to be a mainstream sport again. It does not strike the headlines on the sports pages anymore and is nowhere near the atttractive proposition it once was.

Again,I totally agree it's been an amazing amazinng year for us fans but what about new fans? I think MMA has catered to new fans more. It's more fan friendly. Also,as amazing a year as it has been, the promotion of big fights has been woeful. Cotto Judah did 250,000 buys and it was awesome whereas shit like B Hop Winky was the second highest grossing. Pavlik Taylor,Rafa v Israel 1 and 2 etc has half empty stadiums yet were amazing fights which would appeal to everyone!

    Pac: Barrera will be big
    Mayweather: Hatton will be big
    Calzaghe: Kessler will be big

Im a fan obviously but in terms of fighters with legacy and attendance how can these fights get bigger?

Boxing is doing okay. My only problem is with lackadaisical judicial decisions.

Boxing does need to be more availabe on free tv.. I'm not talking about mega fights, but alot of the good upand comers are on undercards of massive PPV fights. People need to watch them through free tv to want to buy them on ppv...

boxing does need a heavyweight champ with a personality whos amaerica or british, after elwis retired it was over for the heavys. and i think the rest of the divisions suffered because of it too.
