Well id never forget some of the great fights down at 130, just because they were one sided doesnt mean they weren't memorable.

Ill never forget the Augustus fight or the Corrales fight and Gatti's beatdown @ 140 that was just brutal. A lot of people dont give Floyd enough credit for what he has done at the lower weights and judge him on the few recent performances which is kinda sad.

I agree. Fights don't always have to be close to be exciting or memorable. But i just don't rate the fighters you mentioned that highly. Guys like Gatti are tailor made to showcase the talents of fighters like Mayweather. Beating a much slower and less skilled fighter into submission just doesn't do anything for me. Again...i appreciate his skill and talent. Hopefully in the coming years he will have some good match ups.

Mayweather has an abrasive personality/mouth. It doesn't compare with the mouth of Ali. Never, after Mayweather is retired and aged, will he become the respected person that Ali is today. With all of Ali's flaws, he also had a personal drive for real justice and truth. He was willing to lose all for a principle that was bigger than himself and bigger than money.

Mayweather doesn't compare to him in these ways.

He practiced his disrespect and used it pointedly and with purpose. It didn't just flow out of a negative attitude.

Aside the fact that he is an elusive fighter and cocky, there are few people that can give credible reasons to dislike Mayweather.
Ali was hated for what he stood for outside the ring. He was also charasmatic, cocky and flamboyant. It is only after we (so-called boxing fans) see him in this sorrowful and humbled state that we come to adore and somewhat respect his accomplishments. Many promoters, boxing venues and handlers alike were fed off of Ali's Talent, as they are with Mayweather.

The Gatti fight was the last one that had the pulse racing, for me the Zab Judah fight was all style no substance, but the hype behind it kinda made it exciting. Not many gloves were laid on the other in that fight (no bad thing mind). Mayweather or the last 2 years has hardly been boxing gold though, from a fighting stand - point.
