Yeah i can relate a bit. Things that interfere with your lead up can mess with your head a bit. I don't even like the stool in my corner because it's just an extra messy thing getting pulled in and out of the ring between rounds which prevents me from focusing on what I'm meant to be thinking or feeling. I always start warming up early now because I've been caught a few times with timetable rearrangements which cut my warm up time down etc. I find comfort in having my mouthguard in very early etc etc.

It will get easier. I swear that although some people are hyped up by the presence of a crowd etc I've found adjusting to competition specific conditions to be a really huge and difficult thing. I'm still getting my relaxation techniques down to deal with it. I think that for me it's about keeping it in perspective. if i loose it's not the end of the world and I'll learn something but it's often just like a hard sparring session. I don't need all the spectators to think I'm good because it's just one bout and hopefully one of many so I'll just do my best and concentrate on what I'm doing rather than what the result is. that's why I like the have fun thing - enjoy what you've been trained to do because you've put sooo much energy into it that it is who you are - you're not getting mugged on the street - you're in a competition you're trained for so you can actually enjoy it.

I try to think this way because I went to a sport psychology lecture once and was told that a lot of people get into a negative high energy state before a competition and they think that it works for them. They think that because it's more productive than a low energy positive state. However if you can get yourself into a high energy POSITIVE state you'll be up to 60% more effective!

So with all that dribble what I'm trying to say is don't see it as any more than a lesson in ways you can improve your mental preparation and management of those pre-fight complications. It's not about whether or not you have skills, fitness or talent or any of that so don't start feeling bad about that!!!

Sharla, the phrase cluster f*** comes to mind on this one.
Im allready taking steps to insure that she will have her corner man lined up the next time she fights.I was told it was lined up this time,it wasnt.Heck we'd even lined up her cornerman, and I swear as god is my witness, his father has terminal cancer, and we cant use him again until next year(guess what unhappy event happens between here and there)
She literally had to have someone take pity on her at the last minute and agree to do it as a freebie this time, fighting against a girl with 63 amatuer fights to boot.
And if she had switched her guard towards the end of the round,or clinched after she was caught,we're still having a different conversation right now.

Yep CC from me too. You are much, much, MUCH more mature and less bitter about how things went than i think i would have been under the same circumstances!

Well, sometimes sh** just happens, I guess.
As long as I can get more fights, I'll just keep getting better and start winning instead of running of risk of being consulted by boxing equipment companies on what new kinds of canvas they should use to surface boxing rings with.

We're allready working on the one she needs the most
    I call it "the rage"
Where you take all that fear and anxiety you have in you,and instead of freezing up a little bit, your going to make someone else pay for it.
The feeling you have where, you have enough sense to know you dont want to get hit,and instead of getting frightened about the fact, you turn it back the other way,you make it,"How freaking dare you try to get in to MY ring, and hit me"

Hey! I tried to contact you through my trainer a couple of months ago, but he couldn't make it happen. Anyway, don't be so hard on yourself. You have a lot of good attributes as a fighter. I appreciate your honesty, (although, you may have exaggerated the ass-handing part.) You gave me my first shiner ever in my life! Great Jab! I know I told you that before, but it will win you some fights for sure.

Do you have anything coming up? I have been trying to get some fights, but no luck thus far. I know there aren't many opponents for us, but come on! Anyway, I am glad I found you. Email me if you like, I wanted to talk to you about something. Take care and best of luck.

You must have misunderstood my message. I don't fear a fight. I was just trying to give Les some credit since she was dogging on herself.

Oh, I don't think he meant anything along the lines of you fearing a fight. I certainly know you don't. Sorry I haven't posted anything sooner. I've been keeping myself busy and haven't really been taking much time to get on line. I saw on boxrec that you had a fight recently against Melisenda Perez. Sorry you didn't win that one. I bet you'll kick tail on you're next one though.
