I think i must be one of the guys who really gives Joe Calzaghe the most S.H.I.T , but i have to say he is a top fighter and would not disgrace himself againest any fighter .
But if he had fought Collins he would be doing time for murder![]()
I really can't believe the shit that gets posted on here sometimes. Big sad click to the OP. What the hell can Calzaghe do to prove that he is probably the most gifted SMW in the sports history. Look clearly at what he has displayed. He has unbelievable hand speed, a great defence and clearly a granite chin and all backed up with plenty of power, especially earlier in his career. Even RJJ at his peak would at best have won a very close points decision. Toney?, you fucking idiotI like Calzaghe as a fighter, even if I believe he has been a bit slow to make the big fights, but one thing is clear to me, at 35 he has to be past his peak by a fair bit, yet still is able to win very well against somebody of Kessler's class.
How does posing the question of toney make him an idiot?Originally Posted by hackey100

But if you disregard toney then you havent done your homework

Would he have beaten a peak Roy Jones at super middle ?..No One and I Repeat NO ONE beats Roy Jones at Super Middleweight
Would he have beaten a peak James Toney at super middle ? Possible..Depends on which James Toney Showed up
Would he have beaten a peak Gerald McClellan at super middle ?Not Geralds best weight...I see Joe taking a decision
Would he have beaten a peak Steve Collins at super middle ?Yes
Would he have beaten a peak Nigel Benn at super middle ?Benn would look good early but with the amount of punches Joe throws Benn's chin would eventually crack

I think people think of Roy Jones as a Ali of 168 and he only had a few fights there and Tony was good not unbeatable. I think Joe would have a chance to beat both of them lets not forget that a past it prime Joe made Kess look like a fool I doubt past it Roy or Tony could. Who knows Hell i will go with Joe to win i not following the coward i think Joe can pull off a win against both not like i can be proved wrong so what the hell.
I will be damned.Originally Posted by sexydarin

To be honest,I don't see many threads like this being started,I mean Big Al and VD were the most vocal v JC ad even they have given credit to him. If they can,ANYONE can!
Its a disgrace to be slagging Calzaghe off after last nights performance. He dominated LAcy and Kessler, two fighters many people fancied to beat Calzaghe.
Its just a shame that he has chosen to take the big fights at such a late stage in his career. If he beats Hopkins there can surely be no question marks over his ability.
Maybe Lacy was a bit overrated but I don't think Kessler was, Calzaghe's just a great fighter. I'm not sure he'd beat Jones or Toney at 168 but that doesn't mean he isn't a great fighter.
CC#8 To sit and find ways to not give Joe his due after last night shows pure hater status...I wanted Kessler to win in the worst way but you gotta give Joe his due..anyone who doesn't either doesn't know boxing or is not worth debating withOriginally Posted by cpcompany

That is a thing that truely bewilders and somewhat upsets me
Many people know, and even question whether joe could take on a james toney at 168 prime for prime..
And toney was one of the very very best in the division and at middleweight
And while not many will outright say Joey c beats toney,
Everyone hear either suspects or knows that toney wont have a mark on the legacy that calzaghe probably will
Its a funny old game..![]()

It angers me that such stupidness is among boxing supporters and this comment is so illogical that i have two words for the creator of this thread.....shut up

BTW when I speak of James Toney I speak of the REAL James Toney not the Heavyweight impersonator....But the Toney from 160-CW
