I used to do a lot of weights before boxing, then as I started boxing I gradually phased the weights out of my schedule. I became totally against them at one point after blaming them for some injuries I suffered, and neglected them altogether.

Now I do bodyweight excercises, and some dumbell excercies for my back and shoulders to counterbalance the pressups I do, but I make sure to incorporate a lot of stretching nowadays, which the lack of was probably the main reason for F****** up my hamstring. Like donny I don't do more than bodyweight excercises on the legs.

As for my stance on them, I'm not against them per se, I'm sure if done correctly without overdoing it and with complementary stretching it might not be harnful. It's just that there are only a finite number of hours a week that I train (as with anybody) and, while I think being stronger is certainly beneficial for a boxer, I find personally that other aspects of the training (shadowboxing, sparring, stamina work) are just so much more important.

Looking forward for your findings Scrap.
