How about Cory Spinks ?? What a snoozefest that would be, that certainly would send him into retirement.
He didn't really draw with Taylor if you watch the fight, he clearly beat Taylor, and his fight was really close with Hopkins it just depends what things you are looking for determines who wins that one.

That being said he is an idiot for saying there is no incentive for fighting Kessler who fought admirably against Calzaghe and who still has a huge fan base. both of them are big names in EUrope and that fight would make a lot of money. However why can't he potentially set up of a fight with Roy JOnes Jr.? I know they are close friends, but being the competitors they are I see this being a good fight, and it would really give us an indication of where Roy Jones Jr. is exactly in terms of whether he can compete at the elite level yet, or ever. For those people who say size is an issue I remember during the Trinidad fight that Roy said that they are roughly 2-3 pounds apart in weight when they aren't training.

Well,I think a fight with Taylor would have been excellent for his legacy too and it was a far more winnable fight than a fight with B Hop at a new weight where he most likely would not fight again. At his age, what 34,packing on the weight, then losing it,it's not smart. He should have rematched JT at 160.

Even if I did agree with you, who exactly would there be to fight? The winner of JT and Pavlik, which could mean he would fight JT again, making his move to not rematch him instantly look even more foolish. BTW,IF Pavlik wins and Winky fights Pavlik, we have a SIG bet, deal? I'm taking Kelly via stoppage.
Sure we have a sig bet. I'll take Winky every time. Actually you are probably right about the JT rematch. But you can understand the bitterness that Winky probably experienced. I'm not sure how good the money was with a JT re-match?? On that I really am ignorant if it would have fetched more $$ than the B-Hop fight.
I think he was offered in the region of $5-^million for a JT rematch and turned it down. I'm not sure how much he got v B Hop but it can't have been THAT much more and the JT fight was certainly a winnable fight. You're on for the bet,CC on me for making legit points and defending your fighter.

I feel a bit sorry for Winky to be honest. For years he toiled on the undercards to big name fighters, often on foreign soil making his name the hard way.

He's been on the wrong end of several questionable decisions and in the eyes of the majority should have become the undisputed middleweight champion in 2006.
He put on a boxing clinic against Trinidad, beat Jermain Taylor only to be denied and certainly beat Ike Quartey more convincingly than Vernon Forrest did.

Yet because of a disappointing showing two divisions above his natural weight class against one of the most frustrating fighters in the world he's done and finished

He's still a legitimate threat at 160 and maybe 154 if he could get down there. I'd like to see him get the chance of a big fight and payday before he retires.

A fight with John Duddy would generate some cash and would be a fight I'd love to see. A win there and he could be back in the mix to call out Kelly Pavlik.

I have a feeling Winky isnt the same as he was a couple years ago and the next time we see him he will look old. Hope he really cashes out now.

I hate Winky he wines way to much he lost to Vargas by a point, the draw was ok fo me it was a close fight and he was the challenger, and he lost to B hop fair and square. Thenhe wines about the decision look if you fight close fights you may not get the go ahead. His best win was a blown up Mosley who never should of fought at the weight neither should Quarty. Then he gets the scraps of what was left of Trinadad after Hopkins destroyed him Winky needs to shut up and just fight.

I don't like you disecting someone's record when they have nothing to be ashamed of and can be very proud of what they achieved.
He has fought the best of the best. And he hasn't looked bad against the competition.....NOT ONCE. Yeah he may have lost by UD once or twice in the last decade legitimately but he was never outclassed.

I mean you can hate the guys personality. But personally I think he is a nice guy, who fought all OVER the world and in everyone's backyard to make a name for himself. Now he is widely known as one of the greatest defensive fighters of our lifetime and he wants a decent payday with decent judges and you act like he is unworthy.

Well i do not like a fighter that jsut walks away because he all mad he lost and it was a close fight and he the challanger and he did not clearly win so some class and do not act like a bitch. Walking all over the place saying you were robbed not to mention he thinks he is above Kessler and thinks he is above fighting him.

There is no way Kessler or Abraham would fight Wright in the US. They would both demand it take place in there home country. For that reason I don't blame Wright for not fighting them.

I don't think that is a fair way to determine a fighter. Almost every fighter in a close fight would think they won. There are many classy fighters that act juvenile after losing a decision. I think we can agree on that.

I agree VD. Fighting in Europe is like getting a kidney from a bedwetter. It doesn't make sense.

Look booze i do not want to affend you but look i do not that Winky has done it each time. And thats not what gets me he thinks he is above fighting Kessler and Abraham. He is 1-1-1 in his last fights and he is just falling out of the top 10 pound for pound he needs to buck up and fight them.

Okay. CC. Good to even get to chat about Winky anymore. Someday I am going to be left watching a career set of the great one. Anyway I am going to get off of here and read Civil Procedure. Later.

The same way Kessler demanded his fights against Mundine and Calzaghe to be in his home country?
