I think fighters like Winky who are hard to beat and have near to zero drawing power will alwais have big problems getting the fights they want. Add to that that Wright has little KO power and a style that is very hard to judge since it revolvs around blocking punches and letting your opponent wear himself out and you got a guy that won't get many close dicisions.
I feel for Wright since he has been close to the top many times and then lossed close dicisions as he made the top tier. I'm not going to debate whether he should've won or loss those fights. They were all close fights, non of them were robberies, and a guy like Wright is more often than not, gona get the short end of the stick.
Fact is Winky was lucky to have been there at the time when too big names (Mosley and Tito) had recently lossed and were looking for a respectable belt holder to get their names back on top. Then after he finally makes it to the top he finds himself in another close fight with Taylor and got the short end of the stick again.
To be honest I was suprised he got a shot at Hopkins after that. He is just not marketable and by now has sufered too many set backs and is just too late to get back on top again. I don't see him getting another big fight for a good long time and by the time he gets it he will be too passed it to make anything out of it.
Besides, my sister use to work at a casino boat of St Pete. FL and met him and she told me he was an A-hole with a capital A...![]()
