Man it sure is easy to say that Mosely was off form and on a loosing streak yet "decay never sleeps"......but somehow Mosely regained his form. Has it occurred to anyone that level of opposition had anything to do with it?

In the rematch, it was obvious that Vargas didn't give a shyt and was just doing it for the money. I'm pretty sure that somebody on here posted a link where Vargas actually said (before the fight) that he didn't really want the fight but was doing it for the money in order to launch his "Nawshis," clothing line.
As for Luis Collazo, I never thought too much of him except that he gave an extremely unprepared Ricky
Hatton a much tougher fight than was expected. In fact, I think I even predicted that Collazo wouldn't win a round in that fight on this very forum.
But I will admit that Mosley looked much better against Cotto than I had seen him in a long time and Cotto still won a hard fought victory.
Kinda makes you wonder if the result would have been the same if a 34 year old Mosley (the same age as Oscar when he fought PBF) had fought Cotto that night.
I don't know if you are talking to Ice or me. But if you look at my post I never said Mosley was well passed it or was not a top fighter anymore. All I meant was the only reason Mosley risked a fight with Wright was because he was coming out of losses and less than great performances.Originally Posted by boozeboxer
I think both Mosley and Tito underestimated Wright at the time.... Not that that influenced their performace in the fight but I think it influenced their decision to fight him. And if they had not done so, they would probably not bother fighting him and would've fought some other tune up before they fought eachother, which is what they wanted to do in the first place.
At the time Mosley was concidered the legit champion for getting that decision against Oscar and Wright was not near a big enough name. But at that time Tito wanted to come back and some shmuck decided that the two current champions would have to fight for the right to fight the former undisputed champion of the 154 division. Mosley could've and should've said no and side stepped Wright but didn't. Props for him but like I said, he underestimated Wright.
Had it not been for those events Wright would most likely remain in obscurity for some years more and maybe never made it to the top.
Honestly Wright would have gotten his chances one way or another. Any American 154-160 that is very skilled will eventually get a chance at least an alphabelt belt.

Yes this is true, but you must remember that Wright had already had three chances before this. It is very rare for a fighter with very little drawing power to get a fourth shot.Originally Posted by boozeboxer
I give him all the respect in the world for making it happen in what was undoubtably his last chance. It is partly because of this that his rise to the top was somewhat short lived. This guys has been around for a long time when he finally made it to the top, he was in his last legs. I don't expect to see him on top for much longer.
Oscar knows fighting Winky is a fight he can't win. He has a better chance against PBF in my opinion.
