It would be just another gimmick at this point. williams to tall, baldomir to strong, gatti to tough, the list goes on.
But Williams is a much more daunting proposition than Coralles.

For a start Corrales absolutely towered over Floyd and he's only 5 ft 11, Williams is 6 ft 2 and the size difference would look as great as Valuev against Monte Barrett.

Floyd is offically 5 ft 8 but he's the smallest 5 ft 8 man I've ever seen he looks tiny in the ring no matter who he's fight, I'd be suprised if he's taller than 5 ft 7.

So you have a natural superfeatherweight going up against a natural middleweight.

If you've noticed Floyd's wins are getting harder since he moved up. Baldomir he refused to engage at all, Judah was a tough fight especially early and Oscar could have beaten Floyd had he only utilised his jab.

Williams is not on Floyd's level but he's also not a real welterweight, he's a middleweight who somehow manages to make that weight.

Also unlike Corrales he doesn't wait to throw his punches. Corrales stalked Floyd without throwing, Williams will do nothing but throw.

It's not an unwinnable fight for Floyd but it's sure a much more daunting proposition than Corrales.

Height aside Williams is nothing like Corrales whatesover so a comparison can't even be made.
It's daunting to say the least. Mix the height of Corrales with the pressure of Castillo, take up a notch, make him hard to him and add a few inches and you're looking at Williams. :O

I think his style could give Floyd plenty of trouble, this is a lot more pressure than what we've seen with Delahoya, Castillo, or Brusseles (can't recall the spelling).
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

funny thing about boxing is that Williams does not have that much power. Alot of guys compare him to Hearns, but Hearns was better. Hit harder and was a greater boxer. The only similarity is height. And since Williams cannot punch that much, Floyd would probably be the aggresor and try to get inside and land punches.. And the thing would be would his fast punches hurt Williams.

Williams throws a ton of punches and he throws them with enough power to do damage....he doesn't have the 1 punch power of Hearns but he has decent power in accumulated punches over 12 rounds as only 8 guys have gone the distance with him.

I appologise about my initial abrubtness on this thread. I was at work, watching the highlight vid of the Margarito-Williams fight on You tube and i was just amazed at how Williams TOWERED over Margaito (who, inccidently, is as tall as Corrales ).

I just spamed my thoughts here

Bill, you have put down pretty much exactly what i was thinking (except for my opinion that Floyd will NEVER fight Williams .... Which i still think! )

Williams is class above Corrales no disrespect to Corrales.
Well that's very disrespectful. And you're right that Williams and Corrales aren't in the same class. The Punisher would have to beat 4-5 good/great fighters to even be mentioned in the same sentence as Corrales. He's beaten one. Lotta work left.

floyd the aggressor i highly doubt that. floyd will prolly land 1 or 2 punches a round and stay away and get the decision that way to win another title.

Hah, Im guessing that the majority of posters are no longer in agreeance with this thread anymore? Amazing how people base so much on one performance.

LOL yeah i know, i was pretty much laughing at some of these comments. By the way, chico and williams...come on ICB. Chico had proven before he died that he was better than this guy, he fought a shit load of better fighters. Williams fought margarito, one trick pony maybe? Also floyd vs williams, you guys on drugs? Or you guys still on the theory that floyd has a glass jaw? Hes proven that even if he gets hit,i saw him take one of delahoyas hooks and not even be shaken so what the hell could williams do to him.

To be fair though, the original premise wasn't exactly wrong... Floyd-Williams would be a total mismatch.
