How long before Mayweather is stripped of his belt by the WBC?

Exactly. After Hatton vs Mayweather was signed, the WBC announced that Hatton was the #1 Mandatory Challenger for the WBC Welterweight Title.

Thus, Mayweathers next mandatory will not be due until December 2008, and after that he could always ask for an extension, which are frequently granted for their biggest money makers.

The WBC can do any thing they want. Like when David Diaz was made WBC interim lightweight champ, even though Joel Casamayor had not shown any indication that he would not meet his next mandatory. ANd then in hilarious fashion, the WBC strips Casamayor of the World title and gives it to Diaz, and take Diaz interim title and gives it to Casamayor.

That is why I am a strong supporter of the most credible title in boxing:THE RING.
