Witter would drop any plan he made in the world to fight Hatton.. probably give him a 5 round head start too..

fair point but it was obvious that Hatton wouldn't take a fight with Witter straight after being ko'd.

    Can't say i blame him.

Fair enough Hatton needs a confidence booster BUT it's just another excuse to dodge Witter.

Witter wasn't worthy before Floyd.. Now Witter is too dangerous, Hatton needs "gimmes."

He'll be back off to America after this fight. Witter will NEVER mean anything in the States. Hatton-Witter is a Brit fight, it wont ever be happening in America.

So when exactly do you think Hatton will face him? Considering Hatton wont even consider a fight with Witter.

I'm under the impression that Witter being on HBO next is the 1st rung on the ladder toward making the fight with Hatton.

Altho now i hear D-Hop has pulled out, it will be interesting to see what happens now.

When it happens, it will be on HBO but the fight will be in the UK, bit like Calzaghe - Kessler.

I honestly am about as indifferent on this as one could be.. I mean I think it's a poor choice of opponent for Hatton, but I have never enjoyed watching Hatton fight much anyways so I likely won't watch his next regardless. I just think it's somewhat amusing how his fans play the whole "give it time, the fights will happen" card. Hatton's style does not lend itself to longevity whatsoever. Hatton is only going to get worse for wear and tear over the next few years imo. Secondly, Witter or Malignaggi are not about to become household names if we just sit back and let the 140lb division take course.. Who in the hell are they going to beat in order to garner much more bargaining power than they have now? Maybe they could fight each other in a semi high profile bout, but imo that was turn into a very dull fight which certainly wouldn't do anything to drum up demand for a Hatton fight. As has been said, 140 is not a hot division right now. Maybe Hatton will benefit from a gimme fight and then find the confidence to accept a challenge.. But I don't see why beating Lazcano should change how he feels about fighting Witter, which is really the only fight worth a damn for him right now.

Good post and i agree to an extent. But i genuinely believe the fight will happen. It was obvious he wasn't going to fight him after a KO loss. I know there aren't many hot fighters at 140 now so thats why i get the feeling Paulie and Witter are going to be commercialised into stars....maybe not on the level of Hatton, but stars none the less. I know it's bullshit, but it's going to happen. The fights should be made now but they won't be.
