Please Calzaghe fought better guys than Lacy before Lacy... I thought Lacy was good as well, but he is overhyped, he sits on his punches way too long and anybody good would beat him. Calzaghe IMO has foughten two solid fighters one was Eubanks and the other was Kessler, and though Kessler did a better job technically Calzaghe fought the fight he needed to in order to beat Kessler, he knew he would have to step up the pace because Kessler was too technically sound and he did.

At 168 there really was no one for Calzaghe to fight before Lacy came along...sure he beat the Robin Reid's and Omar Sheika's but Jeff Lacy had some weight behind his name when he fought Joe.

Bernard Hopkins has fought high calibre fighters for a longer time but before Trinidad he had a tough time finding good competition himself.

I am not denying that Lacy had weight behind his name, but I think there guys like Bika who would have beaten Lacy's ass if they fought. Lacy has all the skills, but he doesn't have the determination or mindset... He has the physical tools to be great, but he doesn't use his boxing skills enough, and he has no defense. Lacy fights too much like post jailTyson and not enough like Holyfield for him to ever be as good as he could have been. There are other guys on Calzaghe's list with more adaptability, and that makes them better fighters IMO.

Hopkins by far and away has faced the higher calibur Competition on a consistant basis and compiled a better resume.A very good and or great fighter still brings to bear the skills and accomplishments that makes him a top tier guy.Lets not get carried away the weights .

Exactly, both careers seemed to kick on late. Can't fault either guy IMO on their careers.

Calzaghe got stick for a long time about his opposition, but he was ducking no one, Lacy Kessler and now Hopkins called him out and he's obliged them all. Same can be said of Hopkins.
