ODH-PBF and Taylor-Pavlik are all right handed fighters and their styles mesh
I'm aware of that Lyle, but even you have to admit that what we're talking about right now is a man who had at least a 4" height advantage over his opponent take no risk whatsoever in a fight that had gained fairly decent media attention. Vladimir chose an entertainment profession. As hard as it is to deviate the risk from the entertainment it was his choice and he decided not to entertain. There is no excuse you can throw up to excuse him from that. He had the fight well in hand and he decided to not make a statement. He got paid the money to walk out there and entertain and he decided not to, so screw him.

Understandable but Wladimir's MAIN goal is not to entertain it's to win....entertainment is icing on the cake.

Height means very little, look at Paul Williams, Nikolay Valuev, Primo Carnera, Buddy Baer and then look at Mike Tyson, Jack Dempsey, Shane Mosley, Marvin Hagler, Rocky Marciano, Joe Frazier....for every good short fighter there is a shitty tall fighter. Fighting isn't about height, weight, or arm length it's about fighting better than your opponent

I grant you that, his main goal is to win, but when you've proven over 7 or 8 rounds that you're killing someone you need to finish the job, Vlad was never in trouble, and he wouldn't have been in trouble if he had followed up some of those jabs with some deliberate and serious right crosses. I don't at all think he should have just waded in there, got in close and fought Sultan's fight, but at the same time, he had the tools and the advantage to end the night early and make a statement. He made the mental decision to just sit back, take the easy way out, and for that he will be remembered.

If you are a new fan to boxing then you're going to be disappointed very often with that attitude.

At a certain point it made no sense to risk a onesided fight like that to make a statement.

He should have taken more action earlier....Wladimir wants to be a crowd pleaser, he was disappointed he didn't KO Sultan but he won and there is no way he can go back and KO Sultan now....he'll come back and KO the next poor bastard he fights and I feel sorry for them.

I'm by far a new boxing fan, mainly I'm just drunk and pissy, but you and I both know that Vlad was good enough to completely destroy Sultan, despite was "awkward" or "countering" style he may have had

Yes but the ghosts of Wladimir's past attempts to "jump on and take out" a southpaw proved a little more disasterous than this effort, however boring it was

Wlad did slap Ibragimov's right hand down well.

I blame Manny Steward to an extent. He's the one who got Wlad to start all the excessive hugging. But at least he was punching.

Its partly the style, Sultan's is still not as easy to look good against as say Brewster's is. But I'm not even a fan, I'm not gonna make excuses for everything, Wlad could have done more and was just content to do as little as possible.

I didn't even see the Duddy fight but that sounds like Duddy. Worst defense I've seen in a long time. Its like he thinks ducking the other guy's punches is condescending or something. Pavlik-Duddy is just a ridiculous mismatch.

You know mate i don't totally blame Wlad.... lewis could be a bore safty first fighter on alot of occasions... so for me Many Steward ((spelling as im pissed)) has apart to play... he fucked up Naz's style bigtime turning him into a boxer.... so dont feel the Wlad is totally to blame
