I usually make Quinoa with barley grits and brown rice, just buy the stuff bulk from an organic wholefood store closeby. Tastes like shit. I usually make the stuff the night before as I edd egg whites(or sometimes whey) with cinnamon, blueberries and a little honey just to make it bearablePlain yogurt's good to add to cereal, just a bit. Not many packaged cereals are going to be really any good for you... Plain oatmeal is by far the best of those you mentioned, that's what I'll eat if I'm not organized, just add a scoop of whey and some blueberries and I'm off.. Always best to go organic with most foods. Make sure you're getting some good fatty acids as well. Flax seed is easy to add to cereals, or even better just take a good fish oil or CLA(I take both before I eat breakfast every morning). It's also very helpful to eat some green's with breakfast, as they help to slow the absorbtion of carbs, giving you even more sustained energy than a good balanced breakfast on it's own. I know it's really hard to think about eating vegetables first thing with cereal, but it really is a good idea. try drinking Green(or white) tea instead of coffee, as well. Basically, I just take the mind over matter approach.. I start work early enough where I really don't care what my breakfast tastes like.. I wake up, take the dog for a little run, stretch, eat an orange or some other piece of fruit, hop in the shower, mow down my breakfast then I'm off.. I'm at the point where I can't really not eat a good balanced breakfast as my work is physical and I won't eat again for at least 3 hrs... The fact that it tastes bad is nothing compared to how sluggish I feel if I just eat a bowl of cereal or something..It's almost weird as I used to do that all the time and didn't have low energy levels... But I wasn't as active outside of work then, and I guess I've become acustomed to getting certain nutrients first thing.
