I totally agree. About time someone said it. Im sorry but for a guy who fought in the era of jones, toney, and hopkins he found a way to not fight any of them and i cant excuse that. He might beat hopkins and thats a big if but its honestly too late for it to matter.

and why do you agree with him?

explain this one... tells us how joe didn't find a way to fight hopkins when his and hopkins promo's agreed a price? or how he was meant to move to cruiser and fight toney?

toney wasn't close to joes weight class when he was making a name for him self.

Tell me do you think it is total coinsidence that Clazaghe has fought mainly in the uk , and hasnt fought any of the following in 10 years -
Roy Jones , James Toney , Benard Hopkins , do you believe and this is a question - that if he had really wanted those matches when they were in a prime , that he couldnt have got them ?
eg. dropping the WBO JOKE title and getting to number 1 contender in which ever orginisation they were affiliated with ?
Fact is Joe has talent but beating a 43 year old Hopkins isnt going to make him great , his best years have gone , a record of 42 wins 3 defeats and having mixed with the best , is better than 46 wins no defeats and didnt mix with the best.
I know you love him in Wales which is fine, but personally i just dont buy it , and his promoter Warren is a joke to .
I truely believe Hopkins has nothing to loose , if he wins he is laughing and if he looses then people will bring up the age thing.
Calzaghe has made no effort to move to a more glamerous division like LHW , or made enough effort to chase the career defining fights , if you dont agree with me then thats ok , but i know there will be a few on here who do agree with me.

Bernard turned the fight down years ago which was a pity. He didn't want to fight in Wales which is fair enough but it is credit to Joe that he is going to Bernards backyard to fight.

Joe was the Super Middleweight king yet Hopkins moved up from Middleweight and bypassed calzaghe. I think he knew even then that joe was too good for him.

As for Roy Jones - in his prime he would have beaten Joe but he recently admitted he had no reason to fight JC back in the days.

Joe ain't avoided anyone - he was just seen as too big a risk for little reward in the past by people like Roy and Bhop.

So to fight hopkins he was meant to drop his belt and move down to middleweight even tho making SMW was a task in it's self? hopkins could of had the calzaghe fight, this topic is just annyoing facts are facts and its a fact hopkins turned downa career high payday to fight joe in the states so quit talking crap.

Jones said HIM SELF calzaghe was to high risk for the gain he would have of beating him...

wtf are you on about toney for, he was fighting for his cruiserweight before joe had even beaten eubank, shit do you know anything or do you just take what the rest of the idiots post as gospal?

get your own opinion by doing your own reasearch, i'm all up for a good debate and all but when people who don't know their ass from their elbow spout complete crap that are clueless about because they don;t like a fighter just pisses me off.

seanie done it about hopkins and you do it about calzaghe.

One of the biggest reasons calzaghe hasn';t had the big fights up untill now is lack of Hbo exposuer, they provide the money most of the time ot make the big fights.

At one point they wanted ot build him up to beat the then king RJJ. his fight with Reid detered them because it was ugly, had ot fight with one hand for most of it and ended in a bs SD. He started putting on some good shows and got their interest again, but great timing for him the decided to air a fight of him when he was going through his divorce and wasn;t him self, and basicaly lost all interest untill he destroyed lacy.

Maybe if he had more luck and they kept interest he could of had the jones fight, maybe if hopkins would kept to his word after the trinidad fight he would of been where he is now in 2001

It ain't just Jones, Toney and Hopkins. Calzaghe also couldn't make a fight with Sven Ottke (Calzaghe refused to fight him in Germany, but for some reason went there to fight a lesser fight in Mario Veit). He refused to rematch Robin Reid even though there first fight was closed. And he straight punked out against Glen Johnson 3 times.

I look at this argument on both sides of the coin, because people in this thread are saying some stupid things.

Firstly, the idiot that said Joe's win over Kessler wasn't great. I'm sorry but thats just fucking stupid. 29 year old undefeated big puncher with 2 belts in your division and Joe stepped up and outclassed him.

Secondly, Joe didn't avoid Toney as Toney was fighting at Cruiser at the time Joe beat Eubank, and he tried to make a fight with Hopkins previously before Hopkins walked out of the deal.

Ottke also walked away from a fight with Joe. He had 5 KO's and pretty much knew that Joe would cream him.

But...while I like Joe, I would have to agree that he's had options to move up and face better opposition such as Glen Johnson...and even Clinton Woods and has neglected to fight them to stay at Super-Middleweight to defend a title and safely protect Warren's investment. He should have moved up to Light-Heavy years ago, and beating 42 Year Old Hopkins who has fought one legit Light-Heavy is not going to be enough to convince me he has beaten everyone. I honestly wonder that even if he took a fight with Roy Jones now, whether or not he'd come out on top. It's frustrating because he has talent, but he just has never cashed in on it.

He should have gone to the US too. This is why people have respect for Hatton. Because he always chased the hardest possible fight he could find in Mayweather. If Floyd had been a Light-Heavy, I think Joe would have stayed at 168 and retired before chasing a fight against the best P4P fighter in the world.

These are the points i was making VD , the examples i used were also in a hyperthetical sence , Roy Jones for example was only 1 weight up from Calzaghe , he could have move up to face him in his quest for greatness ,
Preme im sure other posters got the idea of what i was saying.
You like Calzaghe and thats fine , but some of us think his career is a bit of a fraud for one with so much ability.
And to suggest i know nothing about boxing is just a joke as i was into boxing when you were a GLINT IN THE MILKMANS EYE Son.
Im not saying these guy queued up to fight Calzaghe either , im saying he could have done more to get these fights ( or Warren could ).
I acctually think he has a good chance of outworking Hopkins over 12 but as i said it wont make him a great in many eyes.
Im sorry if i have offended you Preme that wasnt my intention.

hahahaha the hell those were the points you were trying to make... you are just saying that to ride off unkle VD's back and try and save face. Just like the first load of crap you posted was done by quoting another idiot, now you are doing it again, monkey see monkey do i guess...

gotta love the forum idiots who never learn and just keep digging.

Yes he did. Just like he refused to rematch Reid. And just like he bitched out against Johnson 3 times. Or are those lies too? Go back to carrying Calzaghe's jock strap. It's the only thing you know how to do. You don't even talk boxing (maybe cuz you know nothing about it). It's always the same shit out of you. "Calzaghe said this". "Calzaghe's favorite color is this". "Calzaghe's ate this for dinner". "Calzaghe came in my eye last night". Talk about something else. Fucking groupie.

Bernard Hopkins is difinitely NOT a bum. Calzaghe will NOT going to knock him out either.

    Joecal will win by UD.
