    Default Speaking of great trilogies.

I called my grandfather last night after the fight pumped up at about it.

He was telling me about Tony Zale and Rocky Graziano trilogy was really good as he remebered. Thoughts?

My best trilogy has to be Eric Morales v MAB.

    Same here.

The reason is Barrera and Morales really hate each others guts. Aside from their trash talks, they would willing to fight inside or outside the ring. Plus they completed the whole 36 rounds, and it was full-on war every each round.

For some reason when I looked at the title of this thread I assumed it was going to be a plea to Frank Warren to cancel the Hopkins fight and set up the ultimate trilogy fight and a third meeting between Joe Calzaghe and Mario Veit.

    Which I would wholeheartedly support.

Veit is old hat now, the Germans have their new hero, that 100 year wonder guy...........who Calzaghe could probably take out inside a round

it was one of the best, it was a bit before my time but it hink it was in the second fight when Graziano won it was then he said that famous line that was always going to stick with him "Someone up ther elikes me ma'" thats was the title of his film to i believe.

Zale was like a skilled micky ward, hard as hell and a great body puncher, Graziano was everything that his first name means.

ill see if i can find the third fight for you and pm u the links

From what I have read Zale was the boxer and a vicious body puncher. He was past his best after the third fight but still beat Rocky.

thats the third fight, can only find it on youtube atm...

zale was 35, old for then, but it was different then, zale was in great shape and when you are big hitters using like 6-8oz gloves its always tough and zale got him early... with that said they didn't call zale the man of steel for no reason.

It was the first time Graziano was ever knocked out when he was beatebn by Zale in Yankee Stadium. It started a bloody mess of a Trilogy which will go down in history as one of the most visceral and testosterone fuelled rivalries ever to be sanctioned inside the boxing ring. Riots occured in prisons around New York upon the announcement of the result of the first fight. The result of the second almost gave the New York Commisioner a heart attack.

Graziano deemed Zale to be "made of the same steel they mined in the place he came from." Graziano's quality spoke for itself. Graziano claimed he wasn't hurt in the first fight, but that may have been because he was slipping out of conciousness. Zale too was pummeled and in the return he felt the full effects of the New Yorkers rage fuelled attack. The decider was less publicised and I must admit I've never seen it personally. But with the win Zalwe secured himself a palce in the HoF and Graziano was filled with enough fuel to last him the rest of his career as one of the most aggressive fighters of all time

I don't think footage of the first two fights exist. I've seen parts of the 3rd and that was brutal, crazy ref as well, only the ropes holds Rocky up at one point and the ref grabs his arms straightens him up and pushes him into the centre of the ring to be KTFO lol. Vicious two punch combo to finish him off, they don't make refs like they used to.

Most accounts claim the first two were just as brutal, so it's certainly up there as one of the great trilogies.

The greatest trilogy ever has to be Williams vs. Sprott. Although if we get to see Skelton vs. Sprott 3 and Williams vs. Harrison then we'll have a new #1 for sure

There is certainly clips of the first and second fights. If you can get your hands on a copy of Ferdie Pacheco's DVD "12 greatest rounds of boxing" I believe rounds of the first fight are included.
