Actually I think Rahman's conition was more serious. In that fight he received a hematoma, which is a bleed within the cranium.

If it were intracranial he wouldn't be able to fight in the States anymore. Maybe it was above the cranium?

Nah, that was caused by Evander's 'Third Punch'. At least Chris Byrd had the common sense to stay away from it.

    Nasty.

I assume he had a points lead and just hung on? I can't see how he would have won rounds like that. Probably why they let it go on. Or maybe not, but it wouldn't surprise me.

ghoster, good to see you on here....
Hey if I remember correctly wasn't Avila a last minute replacement?
Eddie was a highly talked about prospect and then this fight put a question mark on him.....
Eddie looses his next fight and then years later looses to Elicer and MAB.

I think the worst I have seen are:

    Rachman vs Holyfield

    Vargas vs Mosley

Thiam vs Trinidad (This one was particularly impressive cause it only took 3 rounds)

I was going to say the same thing about Trinidad-Thiam. However, you are wrong! By the time the bell sounded ending the first round, that eye was swollen shut!

Sebastion Lujon having his ear almost taken off by Antonio Margarito was pretty grim.

And of course there was Arthur Abraham parading his new slack jaw look against Miranda

Here's that one I mentioned from the first boxing world cup. It wasn't Vorapin, it was Phosawan who was facing Fernando Montiel. The pictures don't give you a full picture of the swelling, but they give you the idea. Montiel has a little mouse, but check out the right side of Phosawan's face.

No s!!!. Nice one Mick.I think you got it with Avila as a Last minute replacement.Cook was all brass In his first bout outside of 8 rounds. He did well to box out over 12,bout was almost stopped a couple times if I remember right.

Cook was Pure excitment.....Fast burning and short run but Fun to watch. He did bounce back in next fight after Avila loss to look real sharp with Dominate Clinic Tko over Continentals Americas Champion...(If that means anything lol) Johnny Vasquez.Dio Andujar got him ugly in Next fight....I think(?) a one punch KO loss.

He Got his Belt with Picture-esqu KO over Very credible Israel Contreas then made An Ill fated venture to Columbia where He Traded KD's in a real battle and Iffy call (Imo) with Julio.Real solid exciting fighter..........With a better chin He might have hung around.
