    Round 6:

Tbhey trade jabs...and it's Johanneson looking the meatier, but Mitchell the more frequent. Body shots from Mitchell, the two hard jabs up top. find the mark. Johanneson puts one to the body, then two jabs and another body shot. Mitchell seems to touch his gloves down, ref says no, and Johanneson is all over him. Landing huge rights, and Mitchell looks to cling on. Another big right, and Mitchell can't get out of the way. Mitchell on the ropes and cant run. Body shots from Mitchell, but takes more back, and repeated right hooks. Body shots from Mitchell, who is stumbling around. Huge left stuns Mitchell, who stands straight, and comes back to the body, then peppers the guard with hooks. Another hugelleft and right from Johanneson, and Mitchell i somewhere else right now. Another big right and left, and Mitchell is saved by the bell.

10-8 round for me, Mitchell needs some miracles in that corner.
    57-56 Johanneson

Can't believe you think that was a bad stoppage. Johanneson was done, wasn't returning any shots and was on very shaky legs. He was taking punches to the head, wasn't looking up, and I don't think Ian John Lewis can be blamed at all for stepping in.

Kevin Mitchell said afterwards: "I think I came of age tonight. He's the second in the rankings. I beat him there, he's a great champion. Carl's a warrior and a strong man. I learned different tactics, and sometimes I outmuscled him and sometimes I stepped it up. I've watched the HAttons and the Calzaghe's and they've all come through learning fights like that. I will not give up no matter what. I moved around in the early rounds, but I proved I have the heart of a champion. You've got to learn to dig deep sometimes. I've still got loads to learn, I'm only 23, and I will be world champion."

Now that was an appetiser and no mistake! Next up we have the main event due to start sometime between 2am and 2.30am and survey says it'll probably be a Haye KO....nearly 70 % have that resuly....then we have a quarter with Maccarinelli KO, and a measly 6% backing Maccarinelli. No-one at all thinks Haye can get a points decision.

I think he did come of age too ... Ive always been a big Mitch fan but thought he was way way too static in there tonight ... and Carl had him worried on a number of occasions ...

Ya gotta feel a little sorry for the Leeds lad, may be those nights or alleged nights that he is rumored to have had on the town caught up with him in the end, but I could not understand the commentator hinting that Carl had gone because he'd given his all, and had run a little out of gas

Of course he was tired, but Mitchell was hitting him all through the fight with half decent body shots, which for me would have to tell at some stage, and eventually did,

There will certainly be some major homework done by the Mitchell camp before they step up again, there has to be, ie using his guard with effect, and if someone can let Mitch know that it is ok for him to move his head sometimes, and to use the jab which he does well or has done in the past ... except for the right hand guard dropping that is .....

But fair play to Mitchell he came through against who Id describe as a strong, tuff, reasonably hard hitting though limited, journeyman, that was there to win though....

But he is going to have to improve, as we saw nothing new tonight except that he really does take a shot well ... and that when his back his against the wall ... he can deliver a little bit of class ..... at this level, but beyond that, well ....who knows.

    Round 2:

Both men falling short wirth jabs. Still cagey, with Hatye centre ring now. They swap right hooks, but rough stuff. Clinch, and a body shot from Macc. Big jab and right hand from Haye. Jab and a hook from Haye, Macc ducks under and lands a big left hook. Good right hand and Macc is still standing. Hate with a firm jab. Macc with another body shot. Jab right hook, big right hooks, and another, Maccis on wobbly legs. Maccarinelli is waved off. David Haye was emphatic.

Haye was sensational. Big right hand. Maccarinelli just couldn't take it. Haye is walking the ring, delighted with it.

    Round 7:

Mitchell with some body shots, but he's taking hooks again. Movement has recovered, and he's working well again. Mitchell with straigth shots, but takes another left hook. Mitchell recovered well. Uppercut from Johanneson, but Mitchell with a nice left hook and uppercut. Mitchell now takes the force, with body shots, and another left hook. Uppercut from Johanneson, but Mitchell with five straight shots. Mitchell finding a lot of the guard. Left upperhook from Mitchell and a right. Johanneson clubs Mitchell with a big right. Rigbht again from Johanneson, anda left. Mitchell smartly backs off and circles. Body shots from Mitchell. Straight right from Johanneson. Clinch by Mitchell. Bigb left hook, and Mitchell runs. Right hook from Johanneson.

Mitchell's first half of the round takes it for him.

    Round 8:

Great fight, all it promised to be. Uppercut from Johanneson, and they swap jabs. Right hand glances on from Johanneson. Mitchell on the run again. Circling away now. Mitchell sluips. Left hook from Johanneson, and Mitchell circling away quickly. They get close, and Johanneson with a left hook, right uppercut, and another hook. They swap body shots, and Johanneson lands another left hook. Mitchell gets a body shot and an uppercut. Mitchell swivels and lands to the body. Good jabs from Mitchell, but then gets another Johanneson hook, and a jab. Johanneson's punches seem the meatier. Nice left to the bdoy, and a hook up top. Mitchell works to the body, then leans in to a straight right from Johanneson. Body shot from Johanneson, and Mitchell swivels away. Body shot from Johanneson, then two jabs.

Tight round....draw seems fair on that un.

    Round 9:

Swap instant shot as they both come out. Body shot from Mitchell, then a hook from Johanneson. Mitchell with some good flurries, body shots, and landing straight shots up top. Jab from Johanneson, and Mitchell works four or five jabs back at him. Johanneson swinging and missing, and Mitchell jabbing and moving. Uppercut and a right hook from Mitchell, then two body shots and a left hook. Johanneson not looking too smart now. Good jabs then uppercut from Mitchell. Left hook to the body, and Johanneson slumps to the floor. Big shot, and Johanneson looking shaky. Left hoks from Mitchell, and another, and the ref steps in!!!!

Mitchell by stunning KO! Fantastic finish, and Johanneson just seemed to hit the wall big time in that round. Good stoppage....and a sensational fight.
