Which of Max's statements were factually incorrect?
Right now this thread is "Kirkland Laing doesn't like Max Kellerman."
It'd be cool if it changed into "Kirkland Laing doesn't like Max Kellerman and has provided good evidence to show that Max does not belong on the HBO broadcast team."
But we're not there yet. Show me something, Kirk!

Right now this thread is us two arguing over whether Max Kellerman is any good.
I think we can safely assume that anybody hired by HBO as a boxing analyst at least attains the minimum competency level of being able to get their facts right. The question is, what can they add to the commentary on the fight other than facts? I just have a funny feeling that some old guy like Dundee or Don Turner or even Larry Merchant who's been involved with boxing and big fights for decades might have a more expansive knowledge and perspective than a guy who constantly tells us about stuff he's only read about or watched on black and white movies.
I don't care what anyone says when it comes to analyzing the fight Emanuel doesn't necessarily know dick-all, but his biases blind him from what is really happening. He favors fighters before the fight has even begun and regardless of how the fight is going he always has something negative to say about certain guys, like MAyweather. The sport doesn't need that, its needs guys like Max Kellerman who are actually objective, and guys who can actually judge fights properly.

If Max knows his stuff, then who cares whether he learned it by watching tapes or actually being there in-person?
Just because you know boxing doesn't mean you make a good TV announcer. Have you ever seen Angelo Dundee work on a TV broadcast? I haven't. For all we know, he could be horrible. Because being on TV is tougher than you think. There are plenty of people who have tons of knowledge, but can't speak clearly and come up with stuff spur of the moment, which is what you need on TV.
Lampley is middle-aged, Merchant and Steward are more old-school, Max is a younger guy with a fresh perspective. I think that's a nice balance. I don't see why HBO needs to become the Geriatric Network. It's a good thing to have different generations of anaylsts represented.

I've always thought Max was good because he was so passionate about boxing.
