There is nothing more prestigious in boxing, then the WBA "regular" title.

Obviously there is. But not every fighter is going to be the p4p best fighter in the world, some have to settle for less.

Consider the options from Mundine's point of view: I have the possibility of taking on this big, prestigious fight with a certain chance of losing. I can do it now, no belts on the line and get the amount x. I can do it in three months, a world title on the line and get the amount y.

Now this is pure speculation of course, but I'd say there is a good chance that the amount y is bigger than the amount x. And even if you say 'screw the money', if I were a boxer, I'd honestly rather retire having held a world title, than retire having not.

Does he not realise hes in the best weightclass in terms of potential to beat a lot of upcomers and show hes the best? Hes up there near the top and a fight like that is doing absoutly fuck all for him. Fair enough with his eye infection taking a couple of easy fights, but what does this prove? NOTHING! He needs a big name after this fight or else hes going to loose a lot more support.

When he gets a title to defend, i'll appreciate him going through a barage of bums to keep it.. But their are real titles out there waiting for him to chase them down, and he's hiding behind silly matchups here in Australia and wasting his potential..

It's men like Kostya that make you appreciate a true fighter, who wants to fight, wants to be the best, has a goal, and fucking well goes for it!!

I'm just completely sick of it.. I'm sick of seeing him on the news waving his stupid head in front of the camera saying "i'm the best, i'm the best, no one can beat me, i'm the best and i'll beat anyone out there! come get me!!"... I'm sick of hearing that shit from him.. And i'm even sicker of him coming on television and hyping up his, waste of tallent fights, by fanning out a bunch of $100 Australian notes and posing with it like Floyd...

He may be fooling the 10,000 wanna be Australian boxing fans who wet there pink panties over getting tickets to see Mundine vs Soliman, but he's not fooling any fight fans....


I want to respect the guy!! I really do! But every time I think, "I want to respect the guy", he goes and books a fight that means nothing if he EVER wants to actually get anywhere in the sport of International Boxing...
He's a money hungry bitch, and at the moment, is making to much money in Australia taking these rubbish fights... Sorry, but if any other boxer was doing this in America, making useless Trilogies while they have the tallent and opponents to actually move forward with their career, they would take just as much shit.. And deserve it..
