If anythings Pacs sliding down the p4p rankings not going up .
He looked vunerable vs Barrera and Larios and now vs Marquez. Wheres his aggression and speed gone ? It looked like he was on his way out in round 8 but JMM has never been a finisher and let him survive .
Manny now needs to forget rematching old Mexicans and start his assult on the young fighters out there .
Yeah that's pretty much how I see it.
Quite honestly I feel the best fighter in the division will prove to be Juan Guzman, I think he beats Marquez and Pacquaio based on this showing.
I'd be very interested to see Valero fight either. To me they both looked vulnurable and if he managed to land he could well put them both away.
I'm curious to see how Pac will look at 135, whether the weight will suit him better or worse.
Although on merit I of course keep Pacquaio at number 2, in my heart I think Joe Calzaghe is the second best fighter in the world, and will prove as much against Hopkins, who I believe even at his advanced age is number 3.
Great fight but my overall impression was that Marquez won. Maybe when I watch it again and score the fight I may have a different view. This was no robbery however. There were some close rounds.
I still do not think Pac is number one P4P. I would like to see him against Guzman and Valero. Two different challenges. Slick boxer and power puncher.
If he does not rematch Marquez or go for the aforementioned other 2 130lbs then it would be interesting to see him against Nate Campbell. I think he will struggle up at 135. He should stay at 130 for now and clean up (unified champ).
Tip of the month: Protect yourselves at all times. You never know when the scheming bitch will come back for more.
I've watched the fight closely and indeed it was very close that it warrants a rematch. My scorecard says it's 114-113 Pacquaio or Marquez winning.
The knockdown(which was so impressive), gave this fight to Pacquaio.
Pacquaio deserves to win this one.![]()

I think Pac was wobbly at the end of round 2 and hurt again in teh 8th but Marquez is visibly slower now and didnt have it in the tank to follow it up . Marquez showed decent recovery to recover in the 3rd but he was hurt more by that knockdown than any other he has suffered and it may be down to age and recovery powers not being what they used to . Even though I think Marquez won I think if they fought for a 3rd time Marquez would have a tougher fight on his hands cuz that fight took alot out of him . I dont think it took alot out of Pac its just a bad performance from him .
Pac greatly deserves his number 2 spot beating MAB, EM convincingly and JMM in a hairline. But P4P number1 hell no!!!
All I can say is for a former 107 pounder to achieve all of these is already a great feat IMO and warrants great RESPECT.
Did Manny deserves this victory, YES. In fact he should've gotten the nod 4 years ago in the first place if it wasn't for Judge Bert Clements.
Marquez wasnt battered but Manny did edge him a lil in this fight and a win is win.
ohh ok.. i agree with you. i thought you will say like most people here always say that whenever pac wins he's fighting an old fighter. im a lil disappointed with how pac fought. i think he could have fought a more aggressive fight than that. i think that he's taking too much consideration for learning how to counterpunch and box. thats ok but thats not his bread and butter. his money maker is his aggressiveness and his hunger for the KO. on the other hand, i think JMM didnt do enough to seal the deal. he had pac hurt numerous time yet he stood back and took his time coz of his fear of getting countered again and hitting the deck again. jmm also got lucky on that 3rd round coz the KD came late in the round. it took him 4 mins to recover. 1 minute in between rounds and 3 mins while pac cautiously took his time to get him out. if there was no KD i would call it a draw or win JMM but you cannot ignore the points that a KD brings.

[quote=josef4334;480714]Are you sure? There were many rounds where he looked like he was on his way out, specially round 8. I think this fight has exposed Manny like never before. I was surprised to see him exhausted and holding to dear life on some rounds, specially round 8. I've seen him clearly dominating in other fights but not against Marquez.
Sure, lots of boxing experts, commentators, fans, etc. disagree with the desicion but oh well, I guess he won. Can't change that. Nice exciting fight anyways.
[quote=Chino;482207]Pac was squinting a lot in round 8. That was a big round for JMM. I thought he was gonna finish Pac there, or an EM-MP 1 deJavu atleast. But ofcourse, being a true warrior Manny is,.. he turned the table and gave Marquez a nastier cut in the eye too.
Note: Marquez got cut twice. One from the accidental headbutt, and the other is from the punch.
