Have Cotto win another fight with a big name out there and I am sure Mayweather will be more willing to sign the fight. It just means more money. I don't see how Mayweather would be shaking in fear for Cotto or anybody out there. It just goes down to business really. What does Floyd has to fear with that unpenetrable defense, Impressive hand speed, great footwork, etc. Has Floyd been really exposed as Cotto? Is there something we can go "Oh, THIS and THAT are Floyd's weaknesses"?

Of course I want Mayweather to loose against ANYBODY and see how he takes it! I will savor that moment. Somehow, after Castillo, ODLH, and Hatton, I don't really see a big threat out there anymore. If it was possible, a fight againts Pac and even Cotto would be interesting.

Hi Chino, i don't know why you said that Cotto hasn't fought with a Big Names boxers , cmon..... my friend we know Mosley was a great Champ in that Div. where loss by UD with Cotto and still there , Judah was a great Champ in that Div. too and loss by KO and Quintana where now is a Champ in WW Div. too and loss by KO with Cotto , they for me i classified like a good and great Champs , also we knows that PBF in LW Divs. was a good Champ with a great battles by KO and nobody cant differ on that , but i want to add that is not ONLY the Cotto fans that are saying that PBF is ducking Cotto and that is obviously that Cotto is the biggest threat in WW Div., is the whole world man....Fans , Boxer Analyst , Commentators of Boxing , Sport Writers and journals.......i like PBF , but just when he were in LW Divs. not in WW , for get my attention he have to show more in this WW and SWW Divs., not playing game with ODLH and BIG SHOW.....I see brother that you have like a some of hates at Cotto , Righ?

I feel that it has little to do with the level of competition he has faced that makes Cotto feared. It is the nature in which he has disposed of his opposition. I have yet to see a Cotto fight where an opponent leaves the ring with telling signs of punishment on his face.

Cotto has a calm style, a patient yet aggresive mentality which means he will hang around for twelve dolling out punishment. Any Welter will have to think carefully before accepting a fight with an unbeaten guy with his power and skill.

    What's up Macho

No no no, I said ANOTHER big name right at the beginning of the paragraph.

Hate Cotto? Nope, I have said countless of times that I wish HE or anybody else beats Mayweather CONVINCINGLY. Eventhough I don't see Cotto having what it takes to beat Mayweather I sure wish he beats him.

    Hey Macho

How many legitimate champs has Cotto beat for his titles?

How many superstar fighters in their prime has Cotto beat, besides a 37 year old Mosely and a already beaten by Floyd, Judah?

    just curious my friend

Hi JT , OK in JWW had a good trajectory , he defended his titles with a good boxers , now WW he is in his prime , everybody have his time someones early and someones late , but this point doesn't means that let to be good and a threat boxer in WW div. , lets forget about money , but why PBF not give him a chance , is the opportunity that he need , everybody knows that he is the best right now in WW , so in this Year i hope that we will see some of good fight by Cotto and not by PBF ......

He defended maybe but NEVER won a title from a boxer all vacant and to say Floyd is afraid is pretty damn ridiculous when he jumped to 154 and fought Delahoya knowing Floyd was fighting almost 20+ pounds over his natural weight and gave every advantage to Oscar: choice of Glove, weight etc. Not for nothing but aside from Delahoya tanking it from a Hopkind bodyshot he has never been in the trouble or shows as many flaws as Cotto has in his career.....

Floyd dosent fear Cotto he is holding out for a mega fight.... Again Floyd fought Hatton in December and Cotto signed the fight in late January I believe. Boxers rarely plan a fight a month after a Mega fight let alone for another one.

So Cotto is occupied with Gomez and is already slated to fight the winner of Margarito vs Cintron. SO I ask you would you rather see Floyd fight Cotto now or wait for it to be a Huge spectacle if Cotto beats Gomez and then either Margarito or Cintron?

Cotto is fighting Alfonso Gomez on the the same night that Cintron and Margarito are fighting. After that (assuming Cotto wins) Cotto wil be fighting the winner of Cintron vs. Margarito according to Bob Arum's latest interview on boxingtalk.com

If Cotto's next two fights are all but signed already, how is Mayweather ducking Cotto?

Cotto will beat the Cintron/Margarito winner, then fight Floyd Mayweather in a welterweight unification bout that will rank as one of the biggest and most meaningful welterweight bouts of this era.

That is how it's being set up, and anything less would be a disappointment. But the Cotto vs. Cintron/Margarito fight is BOB ARUM'S idea, not Floyd Mayweather's.

To say that Mayweather is ducking Cotto or not giving him a chance is ridiculous when you consider that Bob Arum already has Cotto's schedule set for perhaps the rest of the year.

    I concur.

In hindsight....wins over Paulie and Quintana look good. However they are not career defining fights. They are just solid wins over solid opponents.

Beating Judah proved nothing to me as Baldozar and Mayweather had beaten him to it.

Beating Shane was a big achievement.....but that wasn't a prime Shane Mosley.

He has a stella record, but he hasn't really shown me that he has the tools to beat Mayweather. I'm not saying he won't beat him, i'm just saying i can't see it personally.

Yep Macho, lots of people (fans, media, commentators, critics, etc.) want Cotto vs Mayweather, no doubt. Thinking about it, who else with a big name and in the same weight is left out there?

Pacfans too . We say that.
How about Pac fans wanting to see Pac get in the ring with Floyd, Hatton, or ODLH? Somehow, I like pressure fighters against Floyd and if they were at the same weight, I rather see Pac against Floyd than Cotto.

OK is true, he showed signs in some fights , but he proved what you are really wanted see holding a good shots from his opponents , we will speculate what really PBF can do to Cotto by his skills , but Chino Do you think how will look the signs of PBF? Hey guys we have to think in that too.......
You mean, what signs we'll see on PBF if he fought Cotto? I hope we see Floyd exposed really. Wishful thinking but oh well. Only two have challenged him to a questionable loss (Castillo I) and a close split-decision that could have gone either way (ODLH).

I agree JT. That's what I tried to say about how Cotto has shown flaws in many of his fights unlike Mayweather.

I feel that it has little to do with the level of competition he has faced that makes Cotto feared. It is the nature in which he has disposed of his opposition. I have yet to see a Cotto fight where an opponent leaves the ring with telling signs of punishment on his face.
Yes! You're right but in almost every fight he shows signs of being vulnerable (exhaustion, getting rocked here and there, gets cut, etc.), unlike Mayweather.
    Cotto has a calm style
And that calm style is what makes Mayweather land fast speedy punches from all different angles and move/run away, shoulder roll, etc. Compare each other's speed, defense, footwork, who gets exhausted easier, who is more prone to getting cut, etc.
