    Wow! that's an OLD article...
I think I've seen that article on here about 4, 5 times...

    Anywho...
I always say the same thing... Pernell must be the fighter with the worst luck in boxing history. I mean going by what's written and said he would have gone undefeated and would have retired undefeated also. Cause for starters he was robbed in all of his loses and the Draw. Then the other loses he has don't really count cause he wasn't the same Pernell and was past it. But would he have won those fights instead of loosing it would have added to his legacy but since he lost they don't count.

As for the worst decisions here's some Decisions on fights I saw live and not replays years later. I saw these fights and instantly knew they were bad:

Silverio Ortiz vs. David Diaz - Ortiz put on a clinic on this night and it's the worst I've seen live.
Miguel A. Huerta vs. Almazbek Raymkulov - At most Almazbek won 4 rounds and that's being nice.
Pernell Whitaker vs. Jose L. Ramirez I - Wow was this bad. I had Pernell by 3 rounds.
Lennox Lewis vs. Evander Holyfield I - Disgrace.
Jose Santa Cruz vs. Joel Casamayor - You saw the fight this was horrible.
Carlos Navarro vs. Derick Gainer - Terrible decision.

It makes me cringe reading some of those... I also remember the Fenech one.. I was 10 years old and not really following boxing then, but remember it being in the new and the papers..

I'm sure thereis more of these decisions to come in the future... In the end, you really just have to feel for the fighters who put in everything! and if a fight goes to the cards, you have to trust the judges will put you in front, when you have clearly won a fight... It would be a nightmare losing a world title belt because the 3 judges had filled out their cards before the fight, then gone to check out the local strip clubs while the fight is playing out..

    doesnt belong on this list.

That was simply a close fight that could have gone either way: not controversial.

Santa Cruz/Casamayor was as bad as it gets.

    Forrest/Quartey was another highway robbery.

People say Yory Boy got robbed by Duddy, but that one wasn't nearly as bad as Matt Vanda getting a decision against Yory Boy. That one was just awful. Campas will probably get jobbed again when he fights Macklin.

He was very unlucky not to get the decision against Duddy.

In fact had it been in Ireland Yori Boy would hace probably got the decision

C'mon Mick, this isn't a fair post. You're WAY smarter than this.

Everyone acknowledges that Pernell lost fair and square to Trinidad.

Just about every Pernell fan acknowledges that the Oscar fight was a very close fight that easily could have gone to either fighter. The complaining with that fight is strictly about the gap in the scorecards (which is exactly what this author talks about). The scorecards were so wide that it gives the apperance that Pernell needed a KO to have a chance to win.
If Oscar had won by a split decision where all the card were about 115-113, you would hear very little complaining about that fight, it wouldn't make any Top 10 controversial decisions list.

More then anything I just dislike excuses about when fighters loose.
I especially hear this about Pernell the most. Every fight was robbery every fight something went wrong.
I guess I was just venting there.....
