Exactly my point buddy! It HAS to be addressed now because it will get worse really fast.

The situation could be that a member like myself Mick or Gamo could leave for a few weeks and our reputations would have plummeted to be replaced by people with less than 1000 posts!

It just doesn't make any sense!

In my opinion the only solution is to go back to the old coolclick system.

By its very nature the punch power system is flawed because it's based on inflation therefore the only point that matters in terms of reputation building is right now.

You cannot have a workable system where everybody's reputation doubles or even greater every 6 weeks.

You have around 1000 reps. CutMeMick has around 5000 and has been one of the pillars of this board for over 3 years.

Under the old coolclick system he could take say 6 months off and still be in the top 2 or 3 in reputation because of all the coolclicks he had built up during those 3 years.

Now if he took just say 10 weeks off he would be replaced by probably everyone who currently has close to 1000 reps.

It makes no sense whatsoever, it only rewards and reflects the past few weeks not the whole history of Saddo's

The ONLY solution in my mind is to go back to the old coolclick system. Any notion of variable punch power that can increase just destroys the system longterm.

yeah, but i mean what do we do with all the rep we've racked up now? Do we just count one rep, regardless of the punch power, as 1 cc and convert it back to cc's? or do we just say that i have 900+ cc's?

If I was Saddo and had the coolclick counts for everybody prior to the changeover I would just restore it back to how it was then.

If not I'd probably divide everybody's current reputation by 2 and set that as the coolclick count for everybody.

    So Mick would have about 2500, I'd have 2350, you'd 450 etc

That would be an approximation of what we had before.

I genuinely think that would be in the best interest of the site. Even though the rep system is just a bit of fun, if you're going to have it, let's make it right, you agree?

I see your point to a degree, but quit being such a bitch. You have a punch power of 60 and a rep of nearly 5K based on 10k posts. Most quality posters have a rep to post rate of about 1:3. Yours is almost 1:2. Why does it matter one bit? Everybody knows that you, Gamo, Mick, Sheep (who has been largely inactive lately, VD, and Gorilla, and a handful of others are saddo legends and staples of this site. If you need some magic number to validate that, it's pretty sad. Please move out of your mothers hobbit hole and get some self-esteem

I don't hear Taeth bitching about his rep or power, and he's one of the most interesting posters on the site and at one time, he was one of the most active. I've been around since 2005 and I had 10 CC's for every 1 SC before the switch, and I'm punching like a Flyweight right now. Do I give a damn? No.

The only problem is that people who suck up to guys with high PP's can get their own reps up too soon, but with Saddo's new system where you have give a smaller amount of reps, it's nobodys fault except the longtime, hardcore members if they inflate newbie's too high too soon. People with 20+ punchpower need to thing twice before they throw full rep to newbs and they should make a point to boost up the reps of the people they feel deserve it. You can't go around using the new system like we used CC's and SC's. It's not the system, it's they way users are handling the system.

And FYI, not all 1000 post are equal. Some people constantly post very short, insignificant posts and rack up their number very quickly. If you were to take the total number of my words in 975 posts, or whatever I have, you would find that I've contributed more to this site than a heck of a lot of people with twice the posts. Who gives a rat's ass? The posters who matter know and respect my posts and that's all that matters to me.

I'm not whining for myself! I have a great reputation!

It's for all the others that I'm raising this point, for people like Taeth and Big H and YOU for example who had great reputations before but who have lost them because they havn't been so active since we had the new system!!!

If under the new system you had a great reputation and now you don't then this new system has failed you to some degree, would you not agree?

It's not a big deal in the scheme of things but I'm just trying to help make the site the fairest it can be for everyone.

Why call me a bitch? I'm trying to do what's right for everybody, it doesn't benefit me in the slightest?

Yeah well I guess if nobody else cares or minds I will just 'squash' it. I just thought it was worth making the point to see if anybody cared whether we had gone from a 'lifelong' ranking system to a 'monthly' ranking system or not.

If am indeed the only person who cares then I will drop it.

i mean, i don't specifically "care".. if you didn't make this topic i wouldn't have talked about it, but considering you did i said how i felt..

it's pretty obvious the ratings have gone crazy, and obviously they will only multiply.. i personally don't care much about my rating, i generally just rep guys who's posts i liked.. i just don't like how i have to rep 9 more people til i can rep that guy again..

I don't get the new system at all... how much rep you have means nothing to me...

And I don't get how I can't give people reps most of the time... like if I get rep it won't let me give it back to the same person or half the time someone makes a good post and I have to 'spread it about' to give it to them...

Problem is I can't 'spread it about'...

I made my case already on the system and Saddo was gracious enough to compromise by the amout of reps you can give someone.

here is the excerp from my thread last week and the chorus of boos I recieved from the pagans dancing and having an orgy around the golden cow of Rep as I went to the mountain to grab the Saddo 10 commandments

    http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...rep-thing.html

Seems like there are alot of unearned rep going on here were we used to wear our clicks good or bad like a badge of honor that you earned for spending time advancing the forum and keeping this place ace with debating and opinion exchanging, you earned your clicks by quality posting and putting your time in... now you have guys with half the posts and time served of veteran established members that have more rep and punch power.

I dont get all bent out of shape about this click and rep thing and take it personal but If it didnt exist at all I wouldnt care but since it is part of the forum society then it seems like the vets are getting the short end. I mean if guests are surfing the board and we are all on display seems like whats a veteran get for all the time and effort that a newb or less number poster cant by kissing ass and grouping together with others.. Seems a bit flawed thats all, I know there are a bizillion other benefits to the new forum but this was an observation that I agreed with Snakey on another thread

Good luck with your crusade Baggins, I am afraid that our fellow Saddonians are drunk with lust from the reps. like Harlots who spread it around without shame

I go to another forum where I have been a member since 1999. I don't have a special status there nor do i want it.

I'm not sure why I have a high REP ratio as I am a fairly invisible poster on this board. I keep fairly low key. I'm certainly not a great poster in any way shape or form.

To be honest I really don't pay any attention to it. I just jump in the threads I find interesting and if I have a comment or something I like to share I do it.

I don't think any forum should have a special hierarchy. We are all just posters sharing thoughts. Newbies, if responsible, can contribute just as much as someone long established. I see it as, if someone contributes positively to the community, I view them favorably. If they act like a jackass, I don't care for them them, no matter how long they have been here or what post count/rep they have.

Hey Dean like with Diane I wasn't attacking you personally. I also agree we shouldn't have a hierarchy. Under the old system there was no punch power, everyone could give a coolclick or sadclick, just a single point either way to any user every 24 hours.

There was no rating people with, like in my case a 60 point punch power whereas somebody else has only 3 punch power.

It was completely fair, everybody had the same worth, and everyone's opinion meant the same, one point.

It was a totally balanced and fair system that could allow any poster to build a reputation no matter how infrequently they posted as it was built over time and not skewed to only count the past few weeks.

I really feel if people understood what Im trying to say here they would prefer to go back to the old system.

Most people can't get beyond the fact I seem to be complaining which is sad as I'm not complaining for myself but because I want everybody on the site to be able to build a reputation over time and not have it erased every few weeks because they didn't get much time to post.

By the way, like with Diane any rep you have received in the last few weeks has been deserved. I'm not slating you in any way. All I'm saying is that in time past a poster would have had to wait months to have built the rep up that you and Diane have in just the past few weeks with the new system.

Someone who made a good point 6 months ago and got a coolclick would get a single point. Someone who makes the same point now could get more than 60 points.

In another 6 weeks the same point could likely make 120 points in one go etc!

It will double every 6 weeks or so so that the value of a single click is diminished every further every few weeks.

It's an unfair system for those who can't post all the time as it doesnt reward them for their longterm efforts only the immediate term
