No doubt. This was an ugly and sudden ending.Back in Lewis's Clumsy 2 left feet days,(Sorry Daxx ).Hard luck Bruno fought his heart out and I actually had him up by a point until Lightning struck.Lewis was measuring him with the left like mad and closed the show.Ok,So were his eyes actually closed when he launched the left or was it folk lore Lol.

Ahh no worries mate even I admit Lennox did not start developing into the ATG he became until after the McCall loss...Then he actually became over confident and learned what a cocky attitude will cost you in the first Rahman fight.....
I know your big fan of Lewis Daxx but i have to be honest with you mate i think Lewis was quite poor against Bruno. His balance was poor and he was badly getting out jabbed. He was also rocked a few times as well. Props to Lewis for coming back though but still i did think it was a little poor in this fight.

Tyson aside though Bruno gave EVERYBODY a hard fight. He was even the first man to stagger Tyson and was ahead on the cards of against Lewis, Witherspoon and Smith at the time of the losses I think.

He was dangerous early but just ran out of steam late becuase of his extreme musculature.

But Bruno wasn't far away from being a great fighter imo. If he was fighting now he'd definitely bring some excitiement back to the division. In his prime he could knock out the likes of Chambers, Brock, Ibragimov and Maskaev with a jab.

I agree Bruno was a very good fighter...Great skill...Just in the wrong era...The 1990's is the second greatest era in HW history...He did manage to be a World champion in that era though even if only briefly....I agree Bruno's biggest downfalls were his extra bulk that caused stamina issues....IMO his psyche was not all that great after his loss to Tyson the first time but all in all he had a career to be proud of

He was Britains first heavyweight champ since Bob Fitzsimmons and in his day was 10 times more popular with us Brits than Lewis was.

The support for Bruno against Lewis was immense. Few actually thought he would win but I'd estimate 80% at least of the the UK was rooting for him in that fight.

Lewis was just never that popular with us Brits. I still don't regard him as a British to this day really.

Sure he grew up in West Ham as a kid but his entire career both in boxing and outside of it has been in the US, Canada and Jamaica.

I don't criticise him for it, I mean he's living the dream, huge star in America and a great career over there as a fighter and now as a broadcaster.

But I'll never regard him as British.

To me Bruno was our last heavyweight champ

Lennox openly admitted he was complacent before Bruno (a crime he comitted again against Rahman.)
However, he style had more than enough to handle Bruno and if you watch this fight again you can quash rumours of Lennox's faulty chin, as Bruno lands a lot flush to very little effect.

No Bruno wasn't the first man to stagger Tyson, Tucker stunned Tyson with an uppercut in the 1st round, in fact it lifted Tyson off his feet, and also Bonecrusher staggered Tyson in the last 10 seconds of there fight with a right hand to the temple.

Bruno was a good fighter in fact had he beat Bonecrusher he would of fought Larry Holmes i would have loved to have seen that, but anyway yes Bruno was good fighter he had a good jab, good power, and i know some people may be shocked at this but he had a better chin than he is given credit for, big downfalls for Bruno was he didn't have survival instincts he never clinched or went down on the one knee instead he would just lay on the ropes and get hammered.

I remember he gave Witherspoon a bit of boxing lesson until he got caught with a hard right hand, in fact they both hit each other at the same time with there best shots but difference is Witherspoon has a better chin so he took the punch unlike Bruno. He also had too much muscle IMO so he was very robotic and he had bad stamina, he also suffered from confidence problems IMO. But if Bruno was in this era he would beat Wlad and beat any Heavyweight out there IMO.

Ali was a great fighter, Louis was a great fighter, Dempsey was a great fighter, Marciano was a great fighter.

Frank Bruno was nowhere near close to being a great fighter

    Shame on you Bilbo.

ICB I am pretty sure I said I admit Lewis did not start becoming the fighter he became known for until after his loss to McCall...Which was after the Bruno bout....Hell mate I don't deny a thing....BUT!!!!!

The finished product is what is important...and when all was aid and done...Every top fighter of the 90's and first part of this century fell to or suffered an L at his hands...even the ones who got one in on him...

Tucker, Ruddock, Bruno, McCall, Rahman, Tyson, Holyfield, Grant, Mercer, Akinwande, Golota, Morrison, Klitschko, Botha, Tua.....

How did this get turned on me being a Lewis fan anyway...all I did was reply to a thread and gave a link to the bout questioned
