No Joe of course you wont make the same mistakes as Ricky , as Hatton fought the P4P best in his Prime , and you are fighting a 43 year old who is past his prime, thats actually why Hatton lost , not because he trained in unfamilier sorroundings !!!! PLEASE be careful Joe , that Bernard's wheel chair doesnt run over your foot during the fight.

Someone needs to go tell Floyd that he's lucky Ricky didn't keep his cool or Floyd would have got messed up..

At least Calzaghe's head is in the right place... I don't think there was anything Hatton could have done in the hot Las Vegas desert to have beaten Mayweather.. Mistakes aside.. But Calzaghe is going to need everything he's got going for Hopkins...
I'm still picking him to win, but I think Hopkins is at least mentally, going to be his toughest opponent yet...

I agree with the points made about Calzaghe's opponent not being the massive favourite that Mayweather was, but Hopkins is still ranked in more p4p top 10's in the world, and the fact is Hopkins was the opponent that was demanded by very many people on this forum (many saying Calzaghe wouldn't take the fight cause he's a coward), and now Hopkins being dismissed as too old and a shadow of his former self by some?

Calzaghe wouldn't get respect from some people if he had a four on one fight with Klitshko, Peter, Haye and the Big Show and knocked all of them out.

Nobody is saying Hopkins isnt a fine fighter even at 43 , i was saying he is not the fighter he once was , and if anybody thinks he is then they are deluding themselves.
As for Hatton ,he fought the P4P king and lost , Calzaghe is not fighting the P4P king so the comparisons are totally stupid.

You know the point I was making though.....you'll very rarely see a p4p list without Hopkins in it...even at 43, but Mayweather is a different class to anyone else in the p4p list so no it isn't a straight comparison.

We've always known this would happen though Rhun.

Unlike the Kessler fight the divs know they can't lose with this one. It doesn't matter if Calzaghe wins because they already have Hopkins excuses firmly set in place.

Fenster do you consider Hopkins as big a fight as Mayweather ? in the sence that Mayweather was P4P the best ?
i think thats the point i was making. Mayweather = prime / Hopkins = 43 ?? you see the difference ??

I didn't even read your post mate.

No offence but when it comes to Calzaghe it's not worth it with the likes of you. You hate the guy. You'll always find fault in anything he does or says.

And NO I don't consider two old boys (Cal-Hop) as big a fight as two guys in their prime (Floyd-Hatt)

And this figjht aint as big. Thats obvious.

Calzaghe is the favorite with good reason. That being said, the thing's Joe is really good at may not work as well against Hopkins as it did against other opponents. Hopkins is going to make this as inside and dirty as possible. He'll look to pick of Joe's punches with the edges of his body to hurt those brittle hands. Hopkins defense will largely negate Calzaghe's speed so in the end it'll be who is willing to give just a little bit more than their usual to take the fight. Calzaghe couldn't make 168 anymore, but that doesn't mean he'll take to 175. Gatti couldn't make 140, but 147 was too big. Hopkins will look to impress his size upon Calzaghe and see how he handles it, push him around to keep those odd-angled punches to a minimum and throw in a little dirt; B-Hop will come in with his head per usual, hold and hit and throw some weird punches himself in an attempt to confuse Joe. The reason Hopkins was less willing to engage Jermain Taylor was because Jermain could have hurt him had he caught him with one big punch. Joe isn't that type of fighter- he's more like Winky Wright so Hopkins will be a lot more eager to mix it up. Calzaghe SHOULD win, but if any fight has upset written on it, it's this one.
