    Just joking son.

If that's the case I like your odds too.

So you're actually quite handy? I didn't realise that. What's your name?

    Dunno man.
If you travel to a top class gym, get the trainers to help you, live the life and show interest, I think you can transform yourself.

    Look at Mickey Rourke...

Of course selective match making, good management and promotion help also.

Gavin Rees, Carlos Maussa, Carlos Baldomir and John Ruiz are all proof that talent isn't everything but that sheer luck and persistance can pay off.

OK I know I am going to get some WTF have you lost your mind remarks for this but...Ruiz was a talented fighter with a boring style

Spend as much time in the amateurs as possible without being kicked out due to olld age...I have faith in you Donny once you turn pro...Even though I never seen you fight...You seem determined...and a top notch guy
Just try to get at least 100 amateur bouts under you before even debating the pro ranks.....Even more if possible no matter how well you do...I want to write about you in the future as a champion and not a could have been

    Thanks very much Daxx....
I'm attempting that as we speak really.
I think I'm spending a year and a half more in the ams...and with the help of God that should mean 20-30 more fights, so I'll hopefully gain plenty.

I honestly reckon Donny will be huge in the pro ranks. He's a good looking Irish boy and he only needs to be half way decent for him to establish a huge following.

You just need to think up a catchphrase Donny. Dunne has his 'hunkey dorey!' you need something similar and then you're in.

Win your first 5 pro fights and by 2010 you'll be selling out Madison Square Garden

Thanks guys, your support means a lot.
I just want to compete in the pros. Every fight in the pros will be an extension of my dream coming true.

And I can guarantee you guys one thing, when I do get in the ring you'll see some exciting fights.
If I win I'll win well, but if I'm to be beaten Im gonna end up like Gatti!

Thumbs up Re: Pete Buckley to retire - hats off to an unsung ring hero

I have posted on more than one occaision ref Peter buckley he has been a great servant to boxing for the last 20 odd years & given many an up & coming boxer a good learning fight & far from slagging him off he should be praised for his contribution most times he came in at days sometimes hours notice to save a show without the likes of boxers in the Buckley mould many shows would be cancelled. I hope he stays in boxing what better guy to teach the art of self defence

I'm a great admirer of Buckley and fighters like him. Some fighters are not as talented or do not get the breaks that the more succesful ones do.

It's easy to say you love a sport when it's all going your way. Try being a guy who for whatever reason knows he isn't going to be the next Naseem, PBF or hitmandonny and still get up and do your road work and spar and smile through the bruises at your day job.

Determination, will to win and a postive outlook are all invaluable but I also believe that some people are born with a natural talent that defines they will be 'great'. Training, traning and more training can make you better than you would have been but with out that 10% natural talent it's never likely to be enough.

Buckley is a true gentlemen of the sport (he has saved shows at few hours notice as already mentioned). I don't think he lacked ambition I think he was down to earth and level headed enough to realise where his market was and he excelled at it.

I hope whatever he does now he finds peace with it.

Hello. I'm a journalist on the Independent on Sunday and I'm trying to get in touch with Pete Buckley. His quotes in The Sun were interesting - we'd like to know more. Does anyone have any ideas about how I could get hold of him? Any leads gratefully accepted.
