Here in the Philippines, we all do it for free. hehehe.
However, if you really want something that is legally for free, try OPEN OFFICE. It works like microsoft office. I'm personally giving you a guarantee that it functions like microsoft office.
You might as well try LINUX as your operating system. I'm using Red Hat for my server and it's quite stable. I have not encountered any system breakdown so far for the past 5 years. Actually, I haven't encountered any virus attack in Linux.

OpenOffice is actually bundled in Linux Ubuntu. Meaning, if you install Linux ubuntu, you don't actually need to install openoffice anymore.It's already in there.
