Cintron looked like an amateur boxer who relies only on his power. Manny is still a great trainer he has just been working with fighters who dont have the right mental makeup lately.

Any of you actually see the fight? Manny Steward wasn't actually in Cintrons corner.
Why make comments when clearly you haven't seen the fight.![]()

I think you've been playing too much Connect 4 Rob
I watched the fight twice and unless both the live stream and the version I downloaded from WBVA had Manny super imposed in the corner he was definitely there.
He was even telling Cintron that Margarito was tiring in the third round
Try watching it again and then pay attention to Cintron's corner in between rounds![]()

I disagree with some of you. Manny may have been on Cintron's Corner and he may have been giving him instructions but they were just the wrong instructions. Cintron was listening it was just that Manny was giving bad advice.
Manny kept telling Cintron to move forward a keep shooting the right hand even though it was abundantly clear that Cintron was having much more success when he stayed outside and landed on Margarito as he came to him.

Steward is definitely on a bad roll right now. As I've said here before, I think Steward is a great heavyweight trainer, but he's somewhat overrated in the lower weight classes.

Most of what Steward was telling Cintron WAS to stay outside and box him. That was mainly what he telling him all night. Kermits just not a skilled boxer at all. Cintron just came undone like the first fight and fell apart. The one think Manny should have stressed more was for Cintron to stop bringing his head down.

I think a lot of you are being too hard on Manny. With the Jermain thing, I dont think that was entirely his fault because Jermain has been with the same trainer for so long, it was stupid of him to leave and try to change things up like that. With Kermit, he wasn't going to beat Margarito regardless of what advice Manny gave him. He didnt have the defense skills to outbox Margarito. He was trying to dance out of the way and he was still getting bombed.

Like Bilbo already pointed out, Steward was in the corner.
But thanks for the negative rep even though you were wrong.

Manny Steward is a great trainer...you don't always have great fighters to work with.
Cintron is very talented but his psyche is fragile and his defense is horrible. He didn't look like a Kronk fighter, he didn't box, he was pulled into a brawl and Manny's fighters don't brawl, they are boxer/punchers.
I think there is more blame for Cintron than for Manny....what Manny has done with Wladimir is big Wlad had tools and skills but Manny made him a very complete fighter with a dominating jab. If Cintron is to continue his career he's going to need to listen and learn from Manny.
Margarito looks ripe for Miguel Cotto...his long arms won't help him brawling with Cotto.

Manny could have talked till he was blue in the face but it would not have mattered with Cintron. He looked uncomfortable and tentative at range and Margarito was closing on him so much he froze on the inside where his body was wrecked.
Cintrons showed some sort of toughness/stubbornness just to make into the 6th but his problems are upstairs not physical Imo.
I really think Manny was not certain of His desire. He was Imploring him almost desperately ...early on it was "walk forward" and between the 5-6 it was "you got to try to box..he has a good chin..you've got to box this round" I think he knew what was coming. Just give me Margarito Vs. Cotto NOW.

I didn't watch the fights last night but was up early and found the download at another place. Downloaded it and watched it - no sign of Manny Steward anywhere. I even commented on another board that it was a complete repeat performance of the 1st fight.
I saw the thread on here and neg repped Cortez. Only later did it become apparent that I was the stupid one as I had actually downloaded their 1st fight.![]()
Now I feel stupid and I still haven't seen the bloody fight.
My apologies Cortez - a genuine stupid mistake by myself. No offense meant and Positive reps coming your way all this week.
