I dont think Cotto will have his way with Margarito like hes used to with other fighters. Margarito will test Cottos chin early and get his respect. His defence is not as good as Cotto but he will take one to land one and keep throwing. I wouldnt be surprised to see him break down Cotto. Tactically they are similar in that they work the body early and keep pressure on their opponents till they break. Both guys have good power, both have good chins. Cintron was very unimmpressive last night so that fights not a good example of how Tony would fair against Cotto, though I think he would be effective vs Cotto.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
It was freakish the shots he was taking and he just stood there
as for cotto i think cotto would win through his boxing ability

yeah gotta agree with most of you guys - iwas never a big fan of margarito until last night - he was taking some bombs staright to the head and just shrugging them off. can't wait for the cotto fight in july!
Yeah, I'm basically in agreement. I've never been a big fan of Margarito, and I have criticized his ability in the past, but god damn, he is monstorous at what he does. I don't think it's a case of "the Margarito tonight would have killed Paul Williams" though... I mean there's a reason Margarito started late against Williams and not last night... It's just down to styles. Cintron certainly hit Tony WAY harder than Williams ever did, but it didn't stop Margarito from getting inside and landing. Williams was just far more consistent and was able to keep range far better. Maybe I'll get chastised for this, but I don't think anyone showed anything new last night, it went completely as expected. Cintron couldn't handle the pressure of Tony, and broke down crying again, Johnson gave Chad Dawson all he could handle and more in a fight which could've gone either way but of course went to Dawson, Gomez was completely out of his league(the guy has had a losing trilogy with Jesse Feliciano FFS, it's a joke people gave him such a chance imo), and Tarver looked meh, but just had better ability than Woods who looked poor, beating him over 12. Having just seen it, Johnson vs Dawson easily stole the night imo, I thought Johnson did enough to win it... He is really an outstanding guy for the sport.
Margarito made a big fan out of me last night. I picked Cintron to pull off the win this time around, but Margarito just beat the everlovin shit out of him. A guy with that kind of chin, that kind of power, that kind of ferocity, that kind of stamina, and that kind of workrate is going to be hell for anyone. I don't believe he can beat PBF, but I would love to see the proposed Cotto/Margarito showdown, that has fight of the Decade written all over it.

Tony is a monster, but it's funny as if you would have asked me a while back I would have picked Tony to win against Cotto in a downright war. Now I'm not so sure. It's not cause' Cotto looked so good last night{he did} or that I thought Tony looked bad last night{he really didn't}; I just feel Tony will take a little more punishment than necessary.
Cotto is no Cintron in the fact Cotto won't crumble and started mentally leaving the fight after 3 or 4 rounds. Also, Cotto will make Tony pay for walking straight in to work the body; unless Tony last night just knew he could do as he pleased and get away with it from Cintron. If Tony can get and stay in on Cotto, the uppercuts will devastate Cotto, but if he 1/2 ass uses his jab to try and walk right in to Cotto; Miguel will jab him to death and hit Tony from angles IMO. Either way it will be maybe the most brutal fight on par with the Marquez/Vasquez wars.
This fight has to happen; my personal most anticipated fight maybe ever. Can anyone say trilogy with Cotto/Margarito? How sick would that be.
