I had a pet pigeon once that kept coming back in his little house that I made for him in my backyard. I had him for months. But eventually he joined a strange flock and never came back.

Maybe they flew south for the winter and when they came back north, he couldn't remember exactly where his birdhouse was.

Oh that was back in the Philippines when I was about 4th grader. My uncle told me he was deliberately stolen by pigeon breeder. He flew with others into some dude's place. He got "captured". I didn't feel betray or anything like that coz it's pigeons natural behaviour. They are not loner.
