I disagree. If you're going to look at PPV numbers PBF cant sell neither without boxing stars with a huge fan base (Oscar and Hatton). PBF sold 325k with Baldomir and 350k with Judah. Cotto vs Judah did poor with just a little over 200k but Cotto vs Mosley did 400k.

Be patient. They will fight. There's no point calling Mayweather out now while De La Hoya and Hatton are being lined up again. If they both keep winning 2009 they will fight.

Cotto won't call Mayweather out because he ain't Zab Judah or Shane Mosely he's a lot better than them Cotto is'nt ready for Mayweather yet in my opinion and Cotto and his team know it.

I think Cotto is staying quiet about Mayweather to send a message to Floyd. Cotto really does not need Mayweather. Cotto is stealing the headlines now and getting lots of attention.

I think instead of calling Mayweather out, he is trying to lure him out first. Once Floyd realizes that Cotto is getting as much or more attention than him, Floyd's ego will get the better of him and he will start talking to the media first.

Cotto has a swagger about him now. He considers himself "The Main Man" of the division. He is the guy who plans on cleaning out the division.

I can't believe all of these "fight fans" can put the blame for this fight not happening all on mayweather.

...cause cotto doesn't need to, everyone else is doing it for him. He's knows that a fight between him and floyd will eventually happen calling him out won't make it happen any faster, also cotto realizes he would just be blowing air since both he and floyd already have fights lined up. He'll just keep destroying people in the ring till his time comes that all the calling out he needs to do.

If FLOYD calls out Cotto then Miguel has SOME sway over what the hell is going to happen in making the fight happen.

It's all boxing politics....I figure Arum is telling him the same thing behind closed doors, he's not a TOTAL moron

Yeah but pardon me if I'm wrong but Mayweather doesn't need Cotto either.

Mayweather already has a great legacy in boxing and has proven everything in his career already. Its the people that don't like him that refuse to accept it.

Mayweather has proven everything in the sport of boxing and cemented his legacy and dominated his era. His legacy is already done he came up fighting the same way Cotto is doing now.

Mayweather has a legacy created and cotto is still trying to create his. So in essence Cotto doesn't need Mayweather's name on his resume to make his own legacy. But Mayweather doesn't need Cotto's name or any other welterweights name on his legacy either.

They can both go their entire careers without fighting each other and their legacies won't hurt from it.

I think its more or less the fans not accepting what Mayweather has already accomplished because they yearn to see him get beat and no matter who he beats they'll always throw another name out there.

First they said Judah would foil him, he beats Judah and they go, Judah is unstable, they said Ricky would beat him because he would pressure him better then Castillo and because Hatton stood up to Tszyu that he could stand up to Mayweather. Mayweather knocks him out and they go, it isnt Hatton's weight class, completely dissing the fact that if it took place at 140 Mayweather would be quicker, slicker, and hit harder.

its Mayweather hate basically. In all honesty Cotto doesn't need Floyd, and Floyd doesn't need Cotto.

And any fan of Cotto's that thinks that he needs Mayweather's name on his resume in order to be successful needs to have better faith in their fighter.

I never claimed Floyd needed him either. It is his own legacy he is dictating.

    I disagree.

If Cotto continues undefeated and Mayweather doesn't face him, it WILL go down on his resume. Ducking accusations are something that don't shake with time. For every Sugar Ray there is a Charley Burley, so I do think that unless he is fine with the calls of ducking, he better either face Cotto or hope Cotto is made to look bad sometime within the next year or so.

Funny how no one remembers neither Chris Eubank nor Nigel Benn fighting James Toney and Eubank admittingly trying his best NOT to fight Roy Jones.

Neither of their legacies are hurt because even without facing each other they went on to become legendary fighters in their own rights.

Have to agree with you on that.. whether it's fair that that happens, maybe, people do go back and see that there were contenders out there that weren't fought.
I agree that to a big extent, Floyd has proven everything he needs to prove in boxing... BUT, as long as he is STILL boxing, he should continue to prove.
Hopkins hasn't sat their and said, "look at my record... I've beaten everyone that challenged me for years... I've got nothing to prove anymore, so I won't take really hard fights"... NO, he's still boxing, and he's still fighting as if he's a fresh champion defending his title. For someone that doesn't have anything more to prove in boxing, he's proving a LOT by fighting Calzaghe, and continueing to take these challenging fights..

It's an example that, as long as Floyd is still in the game, and doesn't have any physical excuses, then he's proving things by NOT fighting the biggest challengers..

I Agree though, he doesn't need to take the fight to go down as a legend!! Simple.. But that's a shitty attitude to have about why he doesn't need to take challenging fights anymore... Great champions never rest on their past wins, if they have a chance of making new ones.....

I think we are just using different measuring sticks when it comes to whether Floyd has proved all that he can, and needs to prove.... No one will doubt he is a champion... And technically he can do whatever he wants now and will still go down as champion!
But it proves he's not cut from the same cloth as other guys,,, who don't give a shit about their record... The give a shit about right now! Thet go 100% head on with what's in front of them....

What do they have to do with this? That's a bit different of a situation as they were both older and Jones and Toney young. They weren't fights literally EVERYBODY was calling for. If you don't want to see Cotto-Mayweather then you don't really need to be watching boxing. And you'll find some people who remember that whole debacle.

For one, it's very well noted that Eubank never fought across the Atlantic in America. And Benn's legacy isn't really defined by him being the best, it's defined by the great fights he had.

When you say you are the best and one of the greatest of all time then you are expected to fight the best. Leonard takes heat for supposedly ducking Pryor, this would go down exactly the same imo, except that this would actually be legitimate. Make no mistake about it, unless Cotto gets demolished sometime soon, this will go down right with Mayweather and would instantly be called one of the biggest avoiders of all time as fair as that may or may not be.

Yes yes i know the fan boys will come out with "it's not in Cotto's style" but thats bullshit, in this sport 9 times out of 10 nothing is handed to you, you have to get out there and freaking take it. Cotto could have and SHOULD have called out floyd right then.

Now don't mistake me in a way that i'm trying to say Cotto doesn;t realy want that fight, i honestly believe he would welcome it. But if he really, REALLY wants it he needs to start sounding like it, he isn't a fucking dog, so he needs to stop talking about his handlers take care of things!
Hey Preme , Cotto in the local journal in an interview he said , that he dont going waste more his time calling PBF , becuse he commented; " For what i going waste time calling a person that really dont want fight me , i going still looking foeward for fight with who want fight me with other big names and thats all "..........that was his expresion my friend and thats why he didnt call anyone........He doing right........
That its what going comes now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coming from a Calzaghe fan Maybe Cotto is perfectly content with the way he is being handled, and doesn't really feel he should fight Mayweather until he can demand a higher share of the revenue, since he's doing just fine with the way his career has gone. I've never gotten the impression that Cotto really cares who he fights anyways.
