Plus what people are saying about how Calzaghe is a much better boxer than he was ten years ago are right. There's no way he'll get drawn into a war like he did against Bika. He's going to do everything off his jab and dominate Hopkins so that even Golden Boy judges can't give it to Hopkins.
    "Golden Boy Judges"?
Well, you know, Las Vegas judges. Hopkins won his last fight by a few points on at least two cards and it was much closer than that. If this is a close fight he'll get the decision.
Come on now Kirk, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Just cause it happened in the past doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen here, and let's not put too many arguments as to why Calzaghe 'could' lose, in case fans get accused of getting their excuses in early.

How is Hopkins going to win? He isnt going to outwork Calzaghe, doesnt have the footwork Calzaghe has and doesnt have the handspeed. He hasnt knocked out anybody in years so I cant see him stopping Joe, who has a heck of a chin anyway.

Its Hopkins who is in trouble here. Calzaghes speed is something Hopkins hasnt faced since Roy Jones Jr. And Hopkins is 43.

It wont even be that close.

    roy jones throws PUNCHES fast...

calzaghe moves his hands forewards, anyone can do that, that isnt hand speed, when he actually tries to throw puynches (whichj he does very poorly) he throws slow wide looping hooks

and calzaghe has even said himself that he will just throw random punches when hopkins guard comes up...

    seriously...

    he thinks thats gonna work

Sal....would you care to put your sig where your mouth is on this one? If you're so confident your boy will win, no reason not to take the bet right? Get a few bragging rights etc etc.

Anyhow, I propose one month sig bet, if you win, you can put whatever you want in my sig, you lose, you get my Calzaghe banner in your sig for a month?

    Or are ya chicken?

I totally disagree with your statement on Calzaghe that you think Calzaghe just throws straight forward punches "That anyone can do"and you reckon he has no speed is his punches as well as him throwing poor punches too!HAVE YOU EVER SEEN CALZAGHE FIGHT?It does'nt sound like it mate!Calzaghe throws awesome Uppercuts as well as hooks too. He's hand speed and 100% accuracy is awesome, just look at the Jef Lacy fight....Calzaghe throw and landed over 1000 punches on Lacy cranium. He can keep that ratio up throughout 12rounds as he yet again proved against Lacy. He'll do the on Hopkins.....you just wait and see!!!Me mate

I'd go so far as to say whoever wins this fight is one of the three best fighters of our era(last 20 years).

    I would disagree with that.
Mayweather, Whittaker, Lennox Lewis, Chavez, Roy Jones, James Toney, Barerra, even De La Hoya or Mosley are all better than B-Hop or Calzaghe.
You could maybe make an argument that Hopkins is top ten, but even that is very debatable. I would say in terms of skill Calzaghe is right up there, but he hasn't fought the opposition necessary to cement that kind of legacy.

Joe has quick hands, Sal. Aint no getting around that. Not always as straight as they could be but he throws them and they are fast. They will be a problem for Hopkins tomorrow as you will see.

    You underestimate Calzaghe.

I can see why people would say that, I should have clarified in that I meant non heavyweights, and also am factoring in not only skill, but accomplishments. IMO right now as it stands I think Whitaker, Jones, and Mayweather are the three best I've seen when factoring all that into play in the last 20 years, and even though Roy beat a green B-Hop, I would bump him over Roy in terms of standing if he were to pull the upset tomorrow. Likewise, I don't think Bernard is washed up or merely a shell of his former self, I think he's still formidable and Calzaghe would get alot of respect from me by beating him.
