Based on what I saw tonight, I just don't see how Joe can earn Pavlik's respect in there. Pavlik would hunt him down.

But id have to disagree.

Although i really like pavlik as a fighter, he is exciting and prob my second fav boxer around atm. I cant see joe losing this matchup heres why:

It will be at super middle i presume? Or a catch weight?

Calzaghe will come into the middle of the ring and start brawling with kelly. He has more speed than kelly aswell as more ring craft and more experience, this brawling and tactical experience will prevail.

Look how taylor dropped pavlik in the second round of ther first fight. In the middle of the ring, taylor was faster and had a higher work rate (only for first 4 rounds until his useless stamina caught up with him). Against calzaghe i think it would be like this all night long though, unless calzaghe started countering.

Against nard calzaghe had a v tough job to adapt his style to beat nard. Against pavlik he doesnt need to adapt, he knows what to do from the very beggining.

Pavlik doesnt have the skill i dont think to match joe in a toe to toe bout and joe is too clever to start going on the ropes against kelly. He doesnt tire out like taylor did and can find his range a lot better.

Id say calzaghe will beat everyone who he fights.

It will be a very tempting deal for pavlik because to be unbeaten yourself and as a young fighter if he managed to beat joe calzaghe he would instantly be a hall of famer basically...imagine if pavlik beats calzaghe, kessler and bute!

But its not gonna happen. Pavik will get beat and joe calzaghe will retire after beating jones and hopkins.

The haters (not reffering to u here mate) will keep hating on him even though he will retire 47,0,0 and have beaten eubank, reid, lacy, mitchell, kessler, hopkins, jones and pavlik in his career. Theyll still hate him and criticise even though it kind of speaks for itself.

Those are the two fights I wasnt too then retire undefeated .

Jones is too old and it may be a similar fight to last night but not as dirty . Joe outpoints Jones.

The Pac fight will be interesting but Pav is pretty crude and I think he'll be easy to outbox. Joe would be too quick for him , mark him up then take him out . Taylor let Pav off teh hook when he had him down but Joe doesnt gas out like Jermain so I think Joe stops Pav in 10 rounds.

You saw what happened when Pavlik tried to showboat infront of the lighter hitting Jermain Taylor.....I think Joe could do that and finish him off as well.

I thought he looked like a kitten pawing at a toy. Hopkins hurt Joe a few times even though Joe has too much pride and does not admit it. I wonder what a guy with a iron chin. World class boxing skills and one the hardest hitting guys pound for pound would do to him. I just do not see

Now he wants Jones Jr. Soon he will be cruising the retirement homes looking for former champs. I hope Kelly Pavlik destroys Lockett in a Cotto Gomez type fashion . And hopefully that would light a fire under Joe's and Enzo's ass.

Good point, his combinations aren't as fast and venomous as they used to be. When he was at his physical peak, it was this aspect that gave him such and advantage when in the trenches. He couldn't match Kessler when trading, and a 43 year old Hopkins was up to the job last night as well. He CAN beat Pavlik, but only by boxing from the outside going in and out like he did in the middle rounds against Kessler.

He will move forward into punches(we all saw that in the Miranda fight) and he will use his range in the middle of the ring. Kelly Pavlik will be by far the best fighter I believe Calzaghe will face.Hopkins and Jones of the 90's would have been a different story. They both are aged and slower. I would say that the Roy Jones I saw in the 1990's was the best boxer I have ever scene. It would be a huge test for both of them and a great fight for the fans.
